nope.

http://us.playstation.com/ps4/features/techspecs/

Reading Sony's actual tech pages on the console and its devices and its pretty clear the AUX port is just for the new PSEye.

EDIT: not sure why but Sony page takes awhile to load. What it says is the specs for "A/V" only state Optical and HDMI while the specs for the camera state it uses the proprietary "AUX" port.

There are some confusion... this picture was taken from the same place that you link.

The preorder page the same...

http://store.sony.com/p/PS4-PlayStation4-Console/en/p/PS410034#specifications

Or they changed the PlayStation Page today... or there are something wrong.

So what now - analog av-out only on US? But really, (close to) nobody cares anyway.

Well that picture does not match when you actually click my link. "AV Output" only lists "HDMI" and "Digital Output (optical)".

I mean the site was changed... before your link showed Analog output... today not... the preorder page have it yet.

I checked yesterday before sleep and your link had the Analog output listed... today not.

Or I had a dream lol

It simply makes no sense.

How can one connection be used for both A/V output AND the Camera at the same time?

Someone messed up and/or a port was removed at some point and the sites are just now being updated or something.

From the site that posted the news...

Update 11:44AM ET: Sony removed “Analog-AV out” from the tech specs page after this article went live. Unfortunately, this makes the situation even more confusing. I’ve reached out for more information from a Sony representative, and I will update as soon as more information becomes available.

There ya have it.

During the reveal I know it was said PS4 would have analog out. I even had it in my comparison thread. Then at E3 it was suddenly HDMI only. So I figured Sony just changed their minds. Then we have this thread due to Sony's site still listing analog. Sony's rep just said "site is correct" and now they are fixing the site. lol.

Basically it appears Sony was going to leave analog in at first (as Nintendo did) but then once MS said HDMI only, Sony figured it could save a few bucks and leave out the connection.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Sony seems more prone to supporting the global gaming community. Not everyone has an HDTV, especially in other markets. Not to mention, many military members often have a console they travel with and not a TV. They have to go with what they get in their barracks room. Updating HDTV s in the barracks is not a priority for the military from my experience. Overall, I think the option for analog output should be available and I'm happy to know that Sony will be able to reach gamers who aren't fortunate enough to have a HDTV right now.

If is true then it would save the 16$ the optical audio to AV converter cost, great I can buy an indie with that.

I said it in another thead (with link) that beginning January 1st, 2013, it is no longer legal to have analogue video output in a blu-ray compatible device. Both the PS4 and the XBoxOne are blu-ray devices, so there will be NO analogue video output. The AVout is analogue audio.

On my old HDTV I had to use component cables to game with my PS3 and 360 since the HDMI port went out on it. I'm glad I upgraded, since it looks like the XBO and possibly the PS4 won't allow it.

I'm just curious how people can play current gen consoles on SD tvs. I know at the beginning of the generation games looked ok on SD tvs, but newer games with extremely small text and HUDs seem like they would be a mess to look at in SD. Am I completely off base?
