Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo’s Silent Victory at E3 2013

That's an urban legend : TecmoKoei, NIS, Konami, Compile Heart, Marvelous AQL have no games planned on Nintendo consoles. NamcoBandai and SquareEnix have only one each (One Piece and Bravery Default 2 respectively) and focus all their other ressources on Playsation and Xbox. Japanese companies who do support Nintendo (Sega, Capcom, Level-5) have an equal number of projects on other systems as well.

Do Marvelous have ANY titles announced for release on ANY console at the moment?

Tecmo Koei have hinted at a Pokemon Conquest sequel, and they have a title set for release on Wii U in Japan, namely this one (there's another game from the same series set for release on 3DS at the same time). And another Nobunaga's Ambition game for 3DS. Meanwhile, they don't appear to have any titles set for PS4 or XBO.

And from what I can tell, none of the publishers you mention in the first sentence have any games announced for PS4 or XBO, either.

Namco Bandai have Pacman and the Ghostly Adventures coming to the Wii U and 3DS, as well as Saban's Power Rangers Megaforce coming to the 3DS. Also, Project X Zone is about to release in the west.

Meanwhile, Square Enix's entire output for the rest of this year, as far as I can tell, consists of Final Fantasy XIV on PC, Lightning Returns in Japan, Lord of Vermillion 3 (Arcade only), and ports of Final Fantasy X and X-2. Are we *really* surprised that Nintendo platforms aren't represented when the only game released by Square Enix that is to be found on consoles and is not an up-port of a PS2 game is Lightning Returns, which releases only in Japan this year?

Meanwhile, if you look at "Japanese companies that do support Nintendo", you'll find that none of them have announced their 2014 games at all for Nintendo platforms, yet. Indeed, nobody has - even Nintendo has barely done so. I think that 2014 games aren't being announced for Nintendo platforms yet, and it's not just Wii U, so it's not a "waiting until sales improve" thing - 3DS games aren't being announced, either. Do you really believe that no third-party 3DS titles are in development for 2014?

I'm not talking about predicting  over the next year. I meant lifetime of the console.  It was just a matter of when which means anyone waiting for said games was already planning to get Wii U. Weren't you expecting a 2D mario, 3D mario, Zelda and Smash bros on Wii U?

bububu-- he said "It also convinced me that the Wii U is finally the first platform I’m going to have to buy this holiday season."

That statement could mean two things:

1. Wii U is going to be his first next-gen console or

2. Wii U is going to be his first console

I'm not sure which one. If it's the former, then it buys into my point. Playing the games yourself is concrete proof that they exist and are just as fun as old times. If it's the latter, ninty does a good job of appeasing casual gamers as always.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

@Aielyn. I love that post. You tell him.

If he's convinced to buy it this holiday season, it's most likely because before seeing E3 2013, he either

1. Was going to wait till next year or the years after to buy it.

2. Was going to skip on the U altogether.

If it's 2, you're correct, if it's 1, your point doesn't help. But I can't see it being 2, due to how it's worded as "this holiday season", meaning that he might buy it in a subsequent holiday season.

Some people don't seem to understand the difference between the terms "victory" and "win". "Win" is a competitive term - if one wins then the others don't. "Victory" needn't be competitive - one can be victorious by completing a difficult puzzle, for instance.

Nintendo had a victory with their E3 presentation. It didn't "win E3", it merely achieved to do what it set out to do, and avoided the pitfalls that it needed to avoid. That is a victory.

And I fully agree with the article.

Hmmm, I think I agree with that.

3rd party support are bad and there is any new ip from Nintendo first party everything is expected for me Nintendo will never win E3 unless they improve there third party support and make only one new Ip from their first party studio.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I do not see what all the fuss was about DK over Metroid. From a financial aspect, Nintendo did not really have a choice between the two. While Metroid (imo) has in the past several years been a better series, DK is a higher selling franchise and due to the financial goals and console sales Nintendo needs to meet, DK is a more viable option to get out of the gate first.

Lego City Undercover

Bayonetta 2

ZombiU 2

The Wonderful 101

Sonic Lost World

Sonic (working title)

Killer Freaks from Outer Space

Many other Wii U 3rd party exclusives

As well as multiplatform games like Assassin's Creed 4 & Mass Effect prequel & Darksiders 3 & etc. etc.

And then there is a lot of 3DS 3rd Party exclusives, like a another Resident Evil game.

Nintendo's conference left me hollow. Nothing really new with that, I guess. They didn't win or lose, they simply existed.

The big problem I had was the same problem I had with the Sony conference. Basically, Nintendo seemed desperate to assure us that nothing would change, and we'd be getting the exact same games as was in the last generation, but in HD.

Ooh, a new Donkey Kong game. It looks just like the last game, but with better graphics.

Ooh, a new Mario game. It looks just like that one on the 3DS, but with better graphics.

Ooh, a new Mario Kart game. It looks just like the last one, except with better graphics AND track verticality.

Basically, these are all games that have, or could have appeared on last-gen, but with better graphics. No big Miiverse integration, no significant GamePad usage...just better graphics.

I hate the double standard people give Nintendo. "Games for those other next-gen consoles will just have better graphics, but Nintendo is awesome because they innovate." But when the chips are down, what does Nintendo have?

Better graphics...and that's it.

Assasin Creed is the only big game in the list, third party is pretty week compared to Playstation and Xbox i request just one new IP from first party and they are the winner for me.

I really don't understand Nintendo with the big amount of money they make with the multipe number of Mario and Zelda they can create many other big game for there console.

Why is it important that the new IP is created by a firstparty studio ? There were the Wonderful 101 (by Platinum games) and X (by Monolith Soft, a firstparty developer )
