Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft addresses lack of games for Xbox One reveal

Microsoft’s Don Mattrick responds to criticism that games took a back seat during the Xbox One reveal, while also confirming that the console won’t require an always-on internet connection to play single-player games.

There’s was plenty of talk from Microsoft about TV entertainment for the Xbox One, but where were the games? It seemed to take a back seat as only Forza 5, four EA sports titles, Remedy’s Quantum Break, and Call of Duty: Ghosts were revealed without actual on-stage gameplay demonstrations.

When asked about the lack of games in a post-event interview with GameTrailer TV’s Geoff Keighley, Microsoft’s Don Mattrick said: “Look, Xbox is created by gamers for gamers, so that’s our core. That’s our DNA. That’s what we do. We decided that we were going to do an unveil, tell people the name, let them see the box, let them see our vision. And we’re going to show such amazing content at E3. Be planned to be blown away.”

Immediately following that, Keighly asked what a lot of gamers wanted to know. Will the Xbox One require an internet connection to play single-player games? “No, you don’t always have to be connected,” assured Mattrick, “but for a lot of things like multiplayer gaming, for streaming content from the internet, you’re going to need an internet connection. That’s the world we live in.”

“Alright, so gamers can calm down,” commented Keighly, to which Mattrick responded ”Gamers can calm down. We got you covered.”

"Be planned to be blown away" actually sounds reassuring.

I want to believe.

that's what major nelson already announced days ago, no clue why people wonder about it now. wasn't it clear that they will only show the console, some possibilities, short trailers and be done? maybe price or something but that wasn't the case

So pretty much "We got the boring stuff out of the way so gamers can be wowed at E3"

Thank you MS.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

exactly what i said before: this show was a feature-overview of ms. nothing more, nothing less.

This should be pretty much common knowledge. Show the console, the basics of what it can do, and show their next gen vision. Then onto next gen games in full at E3.

Yay!!!

They either please with games at E3 or they will never please me. As it stands, i find  the Xbox one is disappointing as a gaming console

I know, man. And I'm thankful about a friendly reminder of that.
