Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft addresses lack of games for Xbox One reveal

I'm sure they'll be plenty of great games for the XBOne, indeed we know they'll be 15 exclusives in Year One. But yeah, it'd have been nice to see them, but if we see them in a few weeks then that's perfectly fine by me.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Giantbomb: Talking Xbox One With Microsoft's Albert Penello

Quote:
Jeff: ‘I feel like going in we knew going in there would not be a ton games. I can stand to see some games [laughs].’

Albert: ‘Yes. You read the internet. When you go through this, you sort of know it's going to happen. I kind of joke ‘’damned if you do, damn if you don’t’’. When I go back and look at E3, we always take a ton of stick for that part where we want to talk about the other parts the system does.

Jeff: ‘Exactly.’

Albert: ‘So we said: Hey, let’s have a briefing that sort of goes and talks about our aspirations and I hope [mumbles]. Everybody was super consciences of saying that like that is not what this one [conference] was. This is about talking the overall vision, announce the name, what we’re trying to do, give some context about hardware. That will free us up for E3 to just like, nail it on games.

(Further in the podcast)

Albert: ‘This (conference) was the part of E3 people don’t like. We took that over and made it into an event and said ‘let’s talk about what we’re trying to do and get that out of the way. And that frees us up for E3.’’

Don said that what they showed today was their main focus with the Xone, and it wasn't about games. That doesn't sound so promising.

Link?

"When asked about the lack of games in a post-event interview with GameTrailer TV’s Geoff Keighley, Microsoft’s Don Mattrick said: “Look, Xbox is created by gamers for gamers, so that’s our core. That’s our DNA. That’s what we do. We decided that we were going to do an unveil, tell people the name, let them see the box, let them see our vision. And we’re going to show such amazing content at E3. Be planned to be blown away.”

That's a pretty broad statement. I think he's refering to it being an all in one device. MS isn't stupid, they know they need the core gamers and exclusives to thrive in the gaming market. I'll reserve judgement for E3.

Oh really then y since past one year 360 had almost no first party support!?

Moving resources to next gen? Late period in the gen allready had sufficient build up of 360 sales momentum. 3rd parties were doing their job by then.

A consoles first few years are most important. MS knows this.

thats a polar opposite approach from Sony who are still pumping out exclusive for PS3.. and also working on PS4... glad to be with them!

How did that serve them? Only getting the jump on the 360 just before a new gen starts?

yeah from being down and out to second place in the console genration i think thats a remarkable comeback.. and it definitely served better for us gamers. till 2010 i was an Xbox gamer but changed camp for the kind of exclusive PS had... I m excited about "the last of US" BEYOND GT6 before PS4 release with KZSF, infamous.. what xbox gamers are excited about on 360? next Forza 5,  unannounced 15 exclusive games for the next year or watching TV.

I m not going to support a company who stop their support for their old console when an newer console arrives. MS did it with 1st xbox now with 360.

You know it makes no sense to say that....360 will be 8 years old. Double the lifespan. It is also a 10 year console.

And for years PS gamers were content with listing unannounced PS games, why negativity towards MS saying there are 15 exclusives in the pipeline? Thats amazing news.

Example: Guerilla games new IP was a popular one pre PS4 reveal

No body can take away anything from what 360 has achieved this generation (Pre Kinect era) .. What I m trying to say is that i like 360 a lot my problem is with MS! when they off started last generation they were so aggressive and had so many games, managed to grab so many PS exclusive title.. But since the launch of kinect they seemed to have forgotten their core gamer.. they just didnt utilize their resource the way Sony have been doing.

now with 360 MS clearly had upper hand with Live, coz they had it since Xbox classic so they knew what they were doing. As for SONY it was new and had nothing to build upon.. so they struggled and counter acted with free online.. Now in the next gen Sony has a base to build the next PSN, so i dont think there will be any advantage when it comes to online.

In next generation differentiating factor will be exclusives, and Sony is master producing first party exclusive, like MS was with live. MS are just starting out with so many new studio, so i expect many of the games to be delayed, as MS learn to streamline them..
