Forums - Gaming - How do you want Mobile gaming to evolve from where it is at now?

More JRPGs. Turned based titles work great on touch devices.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

phones with controllers and tablets with keyboards so gaming doesn't have to done on a touchscreen. Touch controls are not so great for gaming on their own

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Only one thing I would ever want.

Legal GBA games. The day I can buy those GBA games I missed is the day I get a good smartphone.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Most importantly games that I can go from playing on my phone/tablet while I'm out to 'flicking' onto the TV/PC and playing console style when I'm home. Once this becomes standard (and phones/tablets able to handle more complex games) consoles will die out quick.

Also the mobile scene is like the wild west right now. Or the Atari 2600 days when everyone was making games including Quater Oats and Purina Dog Chow. Like the console scene some developers will rise to the top, people will trust their brand and then they'll begin acting as publishers for other worthy games. Roxio has started doing this in fact. So in time, like in the console scene (or movie or book industries), it'll become increasingly hard (and it's damn hard now) to get sales without a big name publisher backing you. This will slow the flood of games and get rid of 90% of the crap, making the games that do come out more profitable overall.

it will evolve when nintendo decide to enter the smartphone market :P

I want them to evolve into decent games. That is it. I still haven't come a cross a GOOD android game. iOS has the far better alternatives, and that's mostly tower defense of some sort...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I want them to go away so people will buy Vita so I can get more games!

Mostly I want the freemium model to burn up and die.

Oh sure, it isn't always terrible, and it might even be particularly suitable to certain games, but even at its best it creates annoying distractions in my games that I simply want to go the hell away.

I have actually never found any totally free games on my Kindle. They are always just free demos.

Until there is some quality control, these games will never stop.

I'm not so sure. Facebook gaming seems to be collapsing as people get sick of running on the carefully tuned treadmills of Zynga and EA, not because Facebook decided that freemium games weren't good enough for their platform.

There will always be some "whales" out there, but I think most people take a couple bites of freemium before they decide they don't like the taste.

I too dislike the freemium model. It seems the games are more focused on playing to people's human nature of being impatient or wanting to unlock everything than they are on improving gameplay. I much prefer the model of episodic content or expansion packs.

Also I wish developers developed control schemes for the Touch screen instead of trying to digitally mimic a regular controller. Like in the game Radiant. Instead of having to push a button to shoot, they made the ship shoot continuously which freed up your thumbs to move the ship left and right by simply touching that side of the screen. It may seem regressive having less control, but it makes for a better game. Some developers have recognized this but I still don't think it is as an ideology that is as widely adopted as it should be. I also think it would lead to completely new types of game designs, instead of just thinking how to adopt controller games to the touch screen.
