Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sonic Lost World exclusive for Wii U and 3DS

As good a time as any to post this:

I talked to someone who works for Sega and knew about this. Well, not in such detail but I knew new Sonic games were aimed at Ninty platforms. My "prediction" about a new Sonic cartoon series will also come true. Cartoon Network.

This further proofs my point that Nintendo is looking for exclusive content. They do not care about the multiplats, they are making partnerships to get games for themselves. A smart move imo.

Sega made exclusive Sonic titles for the Wii too.

I don't think this represents a change in anything.

This is the beggining of a new generation and its a partnership with nintendo directly involved in the development. It might be a thing for the whole cycle, especially given the way SEGA has reduced their development capabilities last year.

The announcment was that the partnership deals with the Sonic Franchise, so it sounds like they secured the franchise rights for while at least.

Check again. The japanese ND just announced the Yakuza HD collection to Wii U. Not exclusive for now though.

Maybe, but Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101 and publishing Lego city and Monster Hunter in Europe proofs my point. They are looking at partnerships, they simple do not care about getting multiplats.

It's clear that Nintendo and Sega are in a good relation: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=159860&page=1

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Indeed that is the case. Nintendo is a smart company, and they know that they are not welcome'd by the mainstream industry in the US. They have been blocked in engines and support. As such, they are doing something very smart wich is partnerships to produce exclusive games. Nintendo is providing programmers and designers to help with the projects. For struggling companies like SEGA this is a great opportunity.

I advised Nintendo to outright buy SEGA instead, but the partnership with shared risk is also a very smart decision.

Its here though, Mario and Sonic are exclusive to the same system. We all knew it was a matter of time after SEGA went under and had to merge.

How insane would it be if this collaboration extended to Yakuza and Valkyria chronicles?!

Well, yakuza 1 & 2 HD is coming to wii u august 8th

Very excited about this, hope it follows up the excellent "Generations" entry.

Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed is second in Karting games only to the Mario Kart games.  Let's hope that Nintendo and Sega can do more great things with Sonic.

Stop hating and start playing.

sounds expensive but would be a great console for nintendo fans and a perfect second console for many others
