what do you want from a new "mature" ip? wold be interesting to hear

Well consideinrg they not getting much 3rd party support some western style games with mature story lines liek you seen on xbox of playstation. Hell even proper sports games, and not EA's 12.5 versions of last years games. In general a bit more variety.

I don't think making "mature" games would be all that hard for them...
They could revive an old IP like Gumshoe or Mach Rider...
Or make a new Urban Champion...
They saw how great the Kid Icarus revival worked out...
They have an immense number of forgotten IP's they could make feel brand new...
If that's too much of a risk, they could just come up with a new IP...

Have a nice day...

Nintendo surprises via gameplay. They like a new gameplay mechanic and fit it into the best suited franchise. Miyamoto said.

This new Link to the Past, was probably pursued due to smaller development time.. just like Zelda OoT 3D or Zelda Wind Waker HD.

For me it's puzzles - things like Tetris, Dr. Mario or Picross. Got really hooked with Picross 3D!

Lol you got me... I didn't even realize.
I seem to have falen victim to the nintendo is for kids propaganda.

I actually like fresh and quirky games more than all the M-rated content.

That being said, for me Mario has gotten stale. It's not the only one though. I find myself passing up on a lot of games recently becuse i fell like "been there donne that".
It's not a problem only Nintendo has, it's just that the Nintendo ip's are older then most, which makes more susceptible to the "already played that game" problem.

Just a quick hint of how incomplete and complex this kind of conversation is: Animal Crossing is mentioned as "virtually a remake", yet this year's New Leaf is actually the first title in the series to shake up the structure, goals and gameplay of that franchise. If and when Nintendo do make changes, they're easily overlooked by critics. Reviving Kid Icarus as a third person action/on-rails flight & gun game with strong online components wasn't exactly a risk-free move, and neither was supplying a sequel to the (at the time) hugely criticised Luigi's Mansion. If you look at the output on eShop, too, you'll see Nintendo's creative side beginning to flourish: Nintendo's own digital output across WiiWare, DSiWare and eShop is often overlooked.

I agree Nintendo need to take some risks with new IP and some risks with established franchises (do something bold with Zelda and Pokemon X&Y please), but they're not the bastion of conservativity and no-risks they can be made out to be. They indulge in risks and innovation even as they hunker down around their bread and butter classics.

It's a case of: they sell and Nintendo likes making money--glad I could crack this devilishly difficult case.

On our next exciting episode, ECM is hot on the Case of the Clueless Message Board Poster (Part MMMMMMMMMMMMMXIII).

(In other news, when Nintendo innovates massively (see: Wii, Nintendo), they get s*** on; when they give the masses what they want they get...s*** on so please tell me why catering to what *you* consider "mind blowing" should be even a remote concern?)

LOL Nintendo hasn't had gamers and casuals alike since the mid 90's. Last gen for them was pretty much 90% casuals.

Good job--you get an A for indugling in non sequitur, now would you care to address my points?

I was responding to that.

Responding to what? They innovate, 'core gamers' s*** on them; they play it safe, 'core gamers' s*** on them and your response is something about them not having core and casual at the same time since the 90s...so what? How is that germane to my comment? You're responding to an argument I'm not making or even touching upon and has **** all to do with the OP's post.

The point is, they can't win. Period. They can go out and get Bayonetta 2, but that doesn't count because it's not being made by EAD (I assume this is the argument now, since Bayo2 doesn't count)??

So as I said: you give the core gamer, allegedly, what they want--edgy, "mind blowing", etc.--but it doesn't count because, uh, well, we say it doesn't.

Nintendo cannot win, because they do not allow themselves to. The company is run by a bunch of old men who have stagnated from being true creative types at the peak of their creative abilities in core character and game development in the 80 and early 90's. Its almost as if Miyamoto does nothing they are stuck in a rut. They need to build up some new minds and create fresh new games. Miyamoto said it himself, he cannot see himself making a game he cannot play on the couch with his family. Thats just the type of company they are. Once they free themselves from the shackles of nostalgia to Miyamotos hey-day, they will be free to go after other age groups as well as children and their respective families. Until then, enjoy the nostalgia show. All you can expect them to change is the way you play the same games. In this day and age the expectations are much higher. As I said in another post, if I was a child I would love them because thats how I fell in love with them, but as I grew older (just like with disney) I moved on. I can still come back but Nintendo isn't making strides to gain gamers like myself.

To the last sentence - I hope they never do. I still love Disney and Nintendo and some things are pure and don't need to be corrupted. Go to Sony and Xbox for your needs but leave Nintendo out of it.

Whatever. The "i was a big Nintendofan but now..." joke from diehard Sonyfanboys is getting really old and stale by now.

The only problem here is, that my consol history is N64- GC- Wii- Ps3. And had the Wii not had motion controls i wouldn't even have thought of switching.

I was never a big nintendo fan (and never said i was i just stated which consoles i owned) nor am i a diehard sonyfanboy now... i go whereever i want to and if you don't belive it try finding a post of me pledging my loyalty to sony. I wish you good luck with that.
but keep on calling people fanboys and i'm sure you'll get a ban eventually. Also i don't know what i said that could have been so bad to make you lash out. If i remember corectly i said it's a problem the whole industry has not only Nintendo.

LOL....Yes....so much for your thoughts because Disney bought Lucas Arts and Marvel. They are reaching out to people like myself. So much for your theory. I'll say it again...it doesn't matter what even you think of Nintendo they wont change unless their public credibility forces them to. It seems they listened to frustrations about third party core titles, but the problem is the third party titles they acquired are current gen.You might like what they do but ultimately it doesnt matter because they still did what they wanted to do. They do what they do and hope you'll accept it, plain and simple.

I´m just pointing out your inconsequential assertion that maybe you have grown out "Nintendo games" but obviously have no problem becoming a marketing tool (see avatar) for a game like Tearaway which is based on a very childish origami style. Oh and of course it´s just a coincidence that it is a Sony published game lol. The only reason I responded is to point out your bias and obvious double standard, no hard feelings dude ;).
