No, it is a "Platinum Games" developed game. SEGA just holds the rights to the franchise and was the publisher of Bayonetta 1. Publisher != Developer
Is Nintendo even able or willing to surprise anymore? | |||
| They are not able to | 105 | 25.30% | |
| They are not willing to | 65 | 15.66% | |
| You suck, they still are | 244 | 58.80% | |
| Total: | 414 | ||

Responding to what? They innovate, 'core gamers' s*** on them; they play it safe, 'core gamers' s*** on them and your response is something about them not having core and casual at the same time since the 90s...so what? How is that germane to my comment? You're responding to an argument I'm not making or even touching upon and has **** all to do with the OP's post.
The point is, they can't win. Period. They can go out and get Bayonetta 2, but that doesn't count because it's not being made by EAD (I assume this is the argument now, since Bayo2 doesn't count)??
So as I said: you give the core gamer, allegedly, what they want--edgy, "mind blowing", etc.--but it doesn't count because, uh, well, we say it doesn't.

No..Publishers finance the production of said product. Developers create the product.

Which is exactly what I have written in my comment...
The question is what does "surprise" means.
You mention that the last surprise was Super Mario Galaxy yet many would disagree as it was yet another Mario game.
Would a steampunk Zelda (for example) with magic, swords and machines count as a surprise? Does the launch of Earthbound on the Virtual console count as a surprise? Or only new IPs count as surprises?
I honestly think that Nintendo only tries to surprise when their consoles are already established. The first years they laucnh what they know will sell games and consoles and once that is done then they try something new, sometimes with success (WiiFit, Art Academy) and other times with failures (WiiMusic).
Let's wait until after E3, given that so far all their announced games have been "obvious", maybe they will try to surprise us by then (although I doubt it).
Please excuse my bad English.
Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
I switched to the ps3 this gen from the wii (been a nitendo only console owner bevore) and at first i thought i was going to miss zelda and stuff, but when i saw some fotage of SS that feeling went away pretty fast.
I don't know somehow i'm not all to interested in their games anymore, maby i've grown out of it, i don't know. I still sometimes play the gamecube (for my zelda collection and doubble das is the best mariokart ever made) but i don't feel any need to get their new games.
That being said i have the same problem with AC, i stopped careing after brotherhood. There are only so many games of the same thing that can keep me interested.
A lot of games need a breath of fresh air and in my opinion Nintendo games fall under that category as well.
This is just my opinion and since all these games keep selling well i'm probably in a minority.

Nintendo cannot win, because they do not allow themselves to. The company is run by a bunch of old men who have stagnated from being true creative types at the peak of their creative abilities in core character and game development in the 80 and early 90's. Its almost as if Miyamoto does nothing they are stuck in a rut. They need to build up some new minds and create fresh new games. Miyamoto said it himself, he cannot see himself making a game he cannot play on the couch with his family. Thats just the type of company they are. Once they free themselves from the shackles of nostalgia to Miyamotos hey-day, they will be free to go after other age groups as well as children and their respective families. Until then, enjoy the nostalgia show. All you can expect them to change is the way you play the same games. In this day and age the expectations are much higher. As I said in another post, if I was a child I would love them because thats how I fell in love with them, but as I grew older (just like with disney) I moved on. I can still come back but Nintendo isn't making strides to gain gamers like myself.

Why do you refuse to have a level-headed discussion about this? Disney doesn't do all of their movies with 3 different casts, although they have a similarly iconic character in Mickey Mouse.
Zelda Skyward sword was surprising and groundbreaking
Kid Icarus Uprising is easily the best 'new' IP has been released as of late, gameplay wise theres nothing alike...
SuperMario3DLand is the first original 3D Mario ever released on a handheld
Luigis mansion 2 is a sequel to a 12 year old game...etc.
seriously, if you accuse Nintendo for not being original, what do you say about the others?
