Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ubisoft announce Rayman Legends to go multiplatfrom, all versions releasing in September

Rayman Legends is no longer a Wii U exclusive, publisher Ubisoft has announced.

The cel-shaded Rayman Origins sequel will now also be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

All versions of the game will be released simultaneously in September, marking a significant delay for the Wii U incarnation.

The game was originally intended to be a Wii U launch title, and a demo version was made available at the end of last year. A new release date was then set for 26th February, just weeks away.

"We heard from many Xbox and Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system," explained Ubisoft's European marketing exec Geoffroy Sardin. "We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game."

It marks the second loss of a Wii U exclusive in as many days. Yesterday it was revealed that the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge would also be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 - and with extra content.

So, quite a lot of people expected it to go multiplatform eventually, but to delay the Wii U version another 7 months, after delaying it from November originally, is quite a surprising move.

Just to think I had this on my consider list. Now I will not get at all

This is good and bad. The good news is that Ubisoft will have more time to refine the game. Plus, it will reach a wider audience.

The bad news is that we have to wait several more months, and might lose the GamePad-specific features altogether.

Wow, looks like the game just went full circle. Announced for all three consoles, moved to WiiU only and now back on all consoles. Something must have went wrong in the development of the game, usually the gold master is on its way to the press plant ~1 month before the release, which is about now.

Okay, so the Wii U release calendar for February is officially... a tumbleweed?

Really disappointing news. I was actually going to go to GameStop today (I have a bunch of trade ins) and pay off the game. But now Rayman Legends has gone from two weeks away to seven months away. I was so ready to play the game. -_-

Don't get me wrong, it's great news for those who don't have Wii U. But man... I really wanted to play the game. Like, now.

And this is how you fuck up your Console Nintendo.

Former something....

I wonder how they will deal with the lack of a gamepad. It either shows that the Wii U features were tacked on or else it will just be awkward on PS360.

Nintendo should really be pushing to get this out before the other platforms!

Well then, time to do your job Sony and MS fans, since you are the reason for this.
Because of these news, I will absolutely not buy this title. Thanks Ubisoft.
