I really want to play this, but I've heard that it's short, and it's still at full price, and I still have so much to play

Hopefully it will go on PS+ at some point, as a discount if not a free game.

Incidentally, although VGC seems to love the game, gamrReview readers despise it. Look at the comments: http://www.gamrreview.com/article/89618/2012-game-of-the-year-awards-the-winners

EDIT: All of the offensive comments seem to have been deleted, but they were overwhelmingly negative about our GoTY choice.

Can be said for any game. Go check out any GOTY winner videos on youtube and you'll have more than half of the users saying blasphemy due to their game not winning. How is this new :P (Far more notice-able when the game is an exclusive even).

It costs like 10 euros for an experience you wont forget. About 1,5-2 hours of bliss!

£10 here, which is more than I've been paying for full 20+ hour games on the Steam sale. I just can't justify it

Ah I see, I usually pay 6x of that for games i really want (basically when theyre new xD) Im too unpatient to wait :| so that price for Journey felt good.

I got Arkham City for free but I still havent beaten it and its been in my possession for over a year now as well as over 15 games gotten from PS+.

Yet I payed for Journey and feel far more "love" towards it than either of them.

It might sound short but it is just the right length for its purpose. You should make an anomaly from your usual purchases and just make a leap of faith xD

ZombiU in the top ten? Not bad.

I need to play this game already.

Hmm, the reason the comments weren't showing up was that it was the wrong article.

Such gems as:

"lol no."

"Thank you for confirming that this site has ZERO credibility and that its reviewers are no gamers at all. From all the nominees you even managed to pick the worst and most overhyped one. Great job /s."

"This piece of shit ? Game Of the Year ? Haha."

Yeah, any time you want to complain about the level of discourse on VGC, take a look at literally any other site

(Former) Lead Moderator and (Eternal) VGC Detective

Well the guys will complain about any other choice too.

And I think how gamrReview can be so wrong if most of the gamers sites are giving the same award to Journey.

This year was a really bad year for game... few games managed to stand out... Journey is one of them.

Seriously though...it's quite ridiculous that Journey has been given so many GOTY awards. Even if it is fantastic, it's just too short to be a credicle GOTY canditate...Borderlands 2 would be my choice and should be lots of these sites' choices too given the amount of effort that went into it and the quality and duration of it.

Journey winning GOTY is kinda like Temple Run winning GOTY. It's a good game, but it shouldn't be rated on the same level as full 20+ hour retail games

Why not?

A one minute music can't be better than a ten minutes music? A one page article can't be better than a ten page article?

If the game is good enough for 2 hours then it deserves any award.

It's extremely short.  I beat it in about 90 minutes.  I don't agree with it getting game of the year awards but it is enjoyable regardless of it being super short.

well deserved.

Unfortunately I will probably keep procrastinating on buying this game and will end up never playing it.
