hehe these % comparisons are funny, they could both be increasing, only one at a faster rate. I'm just glad RIM is doing terrible because I fucking hate Blackberry phones and I can't wait to throw my work one into the gutter.

Teenagers forcing their parents to buy them the iphone so they can be apart of the cool crowd.
After the Apple 5 launch the sales exploded in all the world... so iOS increased it market share... simple.
And next year Apple will launch the new iPhone in July to not give change to Android thinks it is increasing market share.

iPhone has been in USA the longest and it has the widest coverage of carriers. Compared to Android OEMs, Apple has pretty strict requirements for carriers and not all are willing to carry the iPhone. But many eventually agree to negotiate after seeing constant subscriber losses from not being able to offer what customers desire. It's only been a few weeks since T-Mobile USA finally came around. As long as Apple keeps expanding distribution, it still can claw back marketshare from Android...they still have the giant China Mobile left to sign on. After that they may have to bring the iPhone range down-market like they did with the iPod (shuffle and nano).

You do realize that it hit 72% marketshare last quarter worldwide, right?
I keep hearing that Android is either dying or hit a plateau, but its marketshare has only gone up. Its the same old song and dance from the iOS apologists.
I'm going to hold out for a more reliable analyst such as Gartner before making any sort of mis-informed judgment about the smartphone race.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
