Forums - Sony Discussion - The Vita is a year old now, how is it doing?

great tech
great games(never got so many good and/or interessting games on a system in the first year of launch)
(wipeout,uncharted,escape plan,zero escape2,persona etc)

only mistake ;no mario or monster hunter(without mario the 3ds woudln't have reached 5 mio sales till now) and as people are not willing to think for themselves they only buy what is hyped or has a great pr.
One mistake from sony;they did only half the job a good company has to do.The game support is good but they simply forgot half of the systemsellers. One uncharted and one LBP and killzone to come but where are GT,Ratchet,
GOW,gta sa hd?
Another thing is that nintendo simply bought the most important psp title;monster hunter(therefore i hope that the Wii U will fail.If a company is not willing to produce
new ip's and is ignoring core gamers thx to the wii casual crap succes, they should't be allowed to buy exclusivity.thx to nintendo people were forced to play monster hunter or dragon quest with extreme ugly graphics last gen style)

Monster hunter was only important to psp in japan even if Monster Hunter out in psvita in west it won't do anything

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Well the library is 10 times that of the 3DS which is currently a Mario machine. I'm enjoying mine much more than the psp, and certainly more than my 3ds.

Are you sure? I was in the GameStop where I live, and the Vita has a small corner to itself while the 3DS has a whole wall.

Its not very smart to talk about a library based on your gamestop...  there is less than 20% of the library  in that small corner, like in all the shop , so people not very smart ( sorry ) think " hey, there is no game on vita in my shop so there is no game on vita :) " , but eyh people, do you know something called " internet " to do some research ?

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

It's a great piece of hardware. Too bad the games have not lived up to the hype (AC and CoD). First party games have been a hit and miss (Uncharted and Gravity Rush are good, while ModNationRacers and Resistance were mediocre). Software wise, next year will either make or break the Vita.

Sales wise, its mediocre at best. 2m Vitas sold in all regions by the end of the year would have been a great target, but instead it's going to end up at ~1.3m. A price cut is inevitable and perhaps even a starting bundle at $199 would be needed as well. An entry level $179 bundle should be the scenario next year though.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

The problem IMO is that it can't compete with a real home console at home and it doesn't have the games to justify taking it away from home. The 3DS at least offers a different experience and completely different games to the home consoles so if you're feeling like doing something a little different you have that option and furthermore the games work better as a handheld when you're on the bus or whatever. The whole 'handheld console' didn't work the first time around and this time there are better portable media players if you want that.

Essentially they took a failing strategy and executed it better.

Tease.

Asking intertubes. Answer:

3DS: 374 games (http://www.vgchartz.com/platform/42/nintendo-3ds/)

PS Vita: 146 games (http://www.vgchartz.com/platform/43/playstation-vita/)

I don't see 10 times the library.

And whats the point ? I never said that -_-

But in one year, the vita library is so far better than the first year library of 3DS ( And for these two years, the 3DS has only Kid Icarus so far, that is appealing to me, so i hope it will get more interesting games ( a million seller is not always an interesting game, or just dance 3 is the best game of the year with COD)), but eyh, people arent enough smart to understand that and want a two year library for a 1 year old console.

Extremely badly pretty much sums it up.

I'am looking to upgrade to the new handheld gen and frankly the Vita isn't appealing at all, Gravity Rush is the only game I want to play the rest like Disgaea 3 and Persona 4 I already own so don't see the point in buying them again.

So it's going to be the 3DS for especially since the 3rd party support is starting to come though with games like Fire Emblem and Etrian Odyssey on the way.

No, but the statement with the 10times library started this answers. Anyways, you are absolutely right about the different personal preferences for games. I think Vita is a great piece of hardware, but so far only Gravity Rus´h is appealing to me, so I'm probably in the same situation regarding Vita than you regarding 3DS. But the initial statement (not of you, but you answered that Gamestop is no proof against that statement) was: Vita has 10 times the library than 3DS. I only showed a better proof than local Gamestop.

Please stop being a know-it-all. I don't even know how many games are even released on the Vita because I don't own the system. From what I saw on the shelf at the game store, there weren't that many games. Maybe around 20 to 30? I didn't get a good look because I was exiting the store that day.
