WiiU software isn't really doing gangbusters atm, they're not going to get themselves into the trouble of not having third-party support for the bulk of the WiiU's later lifetime are they?

Glad to see Halo 4 rising+36% to 52,340 units though & Forza still marching on.

where did you get those numbers from?

Chart-Track, slightly different article:

10/Dec/2012

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ takes the crown for a 4th week at No1 (-15%).

It becomes the 4th title to hold four consecutive weeks at the top of our All Formats Chart in 2012 along with both FIFA 12, FIFA 13 and Lego Batman 2 (which has 5 weeks). ‘Far Cry 3’ (-8%) holds the No2 ahead of EA’s ‘FIFA 13’ (+18%) which stays at No3 despite a strong increase in sales. Retailer promotions continue to propel ‘Just Dance 4’ (+54%) up the chart from No6 to No4 ahead of another Ubisoft title ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (+10%) at No5. ‘Hitman Absolution’ (-3%) slips to No6 while ‘Halo 4’ (52,340 / +36%) climbs a spot to No7.

A strong sales push sees ‘WWE ’13’ (+124%) back into the Top 10 at No10. Further down the chart the release of Sega’s ‘Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed’ (+39%) on PS Vita sees the title continue its week on week climb to No16. There’s also a debut for ‘Paper Mario Sticker Star’ new for Nintendo 3DS at No40.

thanks!

Fair enough. But the UK haven't fallen out with Nintendo just like they didn't fall out with Sony over the Vita.  The offering isnt attractive enough to grab people yet. Simple as that.

Exactly. Nothing to be ashamed of for not buying something that doesn't appeal to them (yet). Glad we agree :3

really?

edit. scrap that, seen your new post.

thats very impressive.

Indeed it is, should see a increase for the following 2 weeks if history repeats itself, possibility to become the second Halo game ever to cross 2M in Europe, means VGC was a bit high on "last week's" Halo 4 UK numbers though, but given VGC's decent tracking history of Halo, it should balance out.

Releasing in November close to Black Ops 2 wasn't such a dumb idea after all.

Hard to estimate WiiU sales since nearly every other software seems to have gone up.

NintendoLand should be around 15k. The attach ratio last week was 63,7% so WiiU sales should be ~23.5k.

I just made a post in another thread about why I think the WiiU will have a rough opening Year or two.

Said it a while back that the WiiU was destined to have a poor start if it was similar to PS360. And that Sony/Microsoft eouldnt need to react in a major way.

Like it or not, a huge portion of gamers see the Wii as a mid-gen machine. The WiiU will have the public perception that its a console in the PS3/360 generation.

Why? Look at the games. Look at them.

What games are there that makes it stand out from the last generation? Assassin's Cre- oh. Call of Du- oh. New Super Mario Br- oh.

Look at what Wii, PS3 and 360 had at least hyped at launch. Wii Sport. Killzone 2. Gears of War. Compare those games to PS2 games and the difference is absolutely huge in either gameplay or how it looks. They simply looked next gen. There is next to nothing that differentiates the WiiU from last gen consoles. Its more of the same from Nintendo and the 3rd party offerings are already established franchises on platforms the public sees as equal.

The gamepad doesnt have impact even half of what the Wiimote did. It doesnt have a hard graphical impact like Gears and Killzone. The gamepad isnt a game changer, like the Wiimote. Its more of a game-enhancer.

Seemed relevant to this thread.

Im guessing we can extrapolate this data to the rest of Europe since the UK is the largest market?

Why do UK hate Nintendo so much?

They don't "hate" the wii U, they just don't care for it. It doesn't offer many exclusives and nowadays it's all about smartphones.

It's way too soon to tell if, on the long run, the U will be more interesting than smartphones.

Nintendo has something that the smartphones don't have, and that's Nintendo's IPs (bar very minor exceptions).

Also, if you were right, the 3DS would agree with you. But it doesn't. Ie, Nintendo IPs > smartphones threat.
