Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Am I a jerk? I got a WiiU Deluxe on accident...

Hm. I think you should told him that he brought you the wrong console. Probably the guy who sold you the false console will get some trouble later on.

I don't think 50$ are worth such an unethical, selfish behaviour. But some people think that money makes you happy and perhaps for some people this is true.

To answer the question... nope. Employee is stupid.

I won't call you any names, but I wouldn't have done the same.

You should always point out the cashier's mistake, however small. They're only human.

If pointing it out doesn't work, then EXPLAIN the mistake. You just asked him to check if he got the right item, and he obviously doesn't know where to look. If you would have explained it to him, it would have been solved. And you would have felt alot better about yourself.

On the one hand, I'd say that's a bit unethical. On the other hand, I don't know if I would have done any different tbh haha

Just enjoy it! :p

lol that's funny.

At least you've tried to warn him.

Let's just hope the poor guy won't have to pay the difference. :(

I hope not!

I take back what I said. I would have given it back/corrected the employee. I'm not judging, just saying! :p

Here is the thing I dont get as someone who worked for a video game store. When you sell any item even pre-ordered items that were fully paid for. You scan the item and then apply the pre-order credit. The staff member would of had to have a basic console there to scan.

You need to check the UPC on the receipt and see if it matches your consoles. If It does you got what you was supposed to get and there is no problem.

on the third hand,

isn't there like a saying, like "if you have to ask if something is wrong, it is wrong."

You've tied your shit, so deal with it maybe you feel guilty. You'll get over it. Asking this forum full of people on a high horse, that probably do much worse things isn't going to help.

Nor are you going to get a unanimous support from people here, saying that what you did was fine.

I can't believe most of the responses here :/

Thank you Khuutra for taking care of this.

I pirate some stuff and I am a jerk for doing that, I want people to tell me that I am a jerk if I make a thread asking "am I a jerk".

I would have done the same. "Go on take the money and run!"

Did you pay Basic price or Premium price?

Basic.

This actually isn't the first time I've been lucky with a console purchase. When I bought the original Xbox, I bought some nice cables, controllers, and games with it. When I got home my roommate asked me how much I spent so I told him. We both kind of looked at each other fr a moment because while I did spend a lot,it was a couple hundred cheaper than it should have been. After looking at my receipt, we saw they forgot to charge me fr the Xbox.

If you received something that you did not pay for ... that makes you in possession of stolen goods, does it not?

Not sure what is the legal obligation for you to have to point out to them that they gave you the wrong version -- though as you noted, you did make some attempt.
