Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which 7th Gen console did you purchase first? (and why?)

Which did you buy first?

Xbox 360 30 24.39%

Playstation 3 46 37.40%

Wii 47 38.21%

Total:123

Had bought an HDTV and needed a source. Bluray was the clincher.

The Wii, on Christmas '07. It was great for a while, buy I found that in the end, my family were using it more than me, and then I saw the MGS4 trailers, so I sold it to buy a PS3. It's only recently that I have realised what a big mistake I made.

What mistake? Buying a Wii? Or not buying a PS3 sooner?

Selling the Wii to buy a PS3. Not that buying a PS3 was a mistake, I should have just raised the funds to buy both.

I don't know whether or not I like this post. On one hand, you regret that you sold your Wii. On the other hand you are glad you bought a PS3. Hmmm... I guess my love for the PS3 outweighs my hatred of the Wii so your response is okay, you are fine.

360 because the original xbox kicked gamecube and PS2's butt.
and i continue with 360 cause the wii has no games and PS3 exclusives blow.

If it helps, the main incentive for me to buy a Wii again would be for the Gamecube games.

Everyone's a winner.

Or you could wait and buy a WiiU!

Except, never mind, no GameCube compatibility...

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

The first one I got was the Wii because it was cheap compared to the other consoles and I thought the motions controls on the Wii would be better then they were. Then I got a Xbox 360 and then a PS3.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

PS3 obviously, loved the company and opted to get it especially considering backwards compatibility (Well at least at the time). Which was the Christmas of 2007, the best Christmas gift ever from an older brother. No regrets on the PS3, I gotten a Wii later on like everyone else in the world and had my fair share of playing the 360 at numerous friends houses.

360. Back in the early years when it was defenitly the console to get. Bioshock and Oblivion were 360/PC only at the time and the most critically acclaimed games of the gen early on. Halo 3 was coming out soon. Gears of War was the undesputed king of console graphics, though I ended up not really liking the game. Every single multiplatform game looked and played better on the 360. And friends actually owned it so sharing games and playing with each other online was a big plus. I didn't know one person who owned a ps3 until the slim launched.

1) Xbox 360 (2009)
2) Wii (2009)
3) PS3 (2011)

1) I bought the Xbox 360 first because I wanted to have a next generation System and the Xbox 360 arcade was pretty cheap at $200.

2) I bought the Wii because I felt in love with the Nintendo DS. I was looking for a similar experience like the DS on the Wii. Then I felt in love with the Wii too, my favorite system this generation behind the Nintendo DS.

3) The console that I always wanted to have was the PS3, but it was very expensive in its first years. I have always been a Playstation fan. The PS1 and PS2 are two of my favorite systems ever and I love God of War. After the Slim and God of War III came out I could not resist.
