Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 360 successor features tablet-like controller with HD screen, touch-enabled?

MARCUSDJACKSON, I might have used different words, but I could not have said it better.

It gets worse for each new rumour about the NextBox. First Kinect built in, then first party software investments aimed at family games, then extremely underpowered hardware and now valuable resources wasted on a bulky touch controller.

Now if Sony implements this tablet strategy too then next gen is practically destroyed.

Hmmmm. The tablet will be "second only to Kinect" in how you operate your console. That should make "hardcore" gamers happy.

Nooo I don't want the next-gen controllers to become ipads, I don't care about new gameplay possiblities the touch-screen or motion control can bring, I am an hardcore gamer hence I want my good old regular controller. I dont' want gimmicks, screw innovation!

Well, if all three go with Tablet controllers, Nintendo will win the next generation, too.
When the consoles become more and more similar, the games will be the only thing that makes a difference. And on pure games, Nintendo wins, hands down.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Isn't that kind of what happened with the PS2 and the GameCube though?

Aww man. Are tablets really that indispensable?

Oh well here's hoping for backward compatibility where I turn on the Xbox 720 in the living room, load up my 360 game, snuck into my room and start playing it solely on the tablet controller without my parents knowing. X)

If this is true, which I doubt, it could mean a lot of co-development for WiiU and Xbox 720 with PS3/4 being ignored since it does not have a tablet.

Tablet controls --the next HD in gaming.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I do, I'm not an idiot :) As long as you're clear, I can understand you. When lines are fuzzy, it's really hard to hit a moving target, unless you're great at anticipation. I'm not there just yet. Thanks for italics.

:D I don't think I am an elitist nintendo fan :), but I like to make sense of things, that's for sure. When things don't make sense to me, I like to bring them out. I try not to be a jerk. You might remember that I voted for you a while back in one of the vote your favorite user threads (early in 2010, back when my nick was still padib). Lately you've been getting a tad on the bitter side, but I can understand it. One of the reasons I voted for you back then was because I knew you were a Sony fan, but you were able to put that aside to make sense of things. But in the context where you're essentially saying Nintendo is not innovating, it's a position that's hard to defend. If you stayed nuanced and said "Nintendo brought this and that aspect as an innovation, but this or that idea was there already", then you would be in a much better position to hold your ground. And it would actually address the gripe you had, about people lumping concepts together in one big ambiguous statement.

Anyway, I didn't feel like you were picking on me, but I appreciate the post. Hey, if rage is your issue, geez go no further, your pal is here. Rage is one of my biggest issues, but thank God I've been working on it. Consider boxing as a hobby, it really helps me alot.

oh geez, i didn't even release you switched your name.  i had already come to see happydolphin as a good poster but i guess i thought you were a new user.

@rage - i'm actually not any more angry/bitter then i ever was.  but i am bored.  we used to have so much access to numbers and a good ~25% of our threads where "amature analyts" in nature and interesting.  now with the data pretty locked up all we have is news reposts and troll threads.  i guess i've just adapted to match our environment.  :P

Sounds interesting, but has nintendo not already patented the shit out of it?
