I hope not.... I dont want to buy another PS console just to play a new God of War (if, there will be one...)
03/10/09 HUGE day in my life:
superchunk said: lol Like he's going to come out in January and say "oh sure in June, we'll announce something..." This proves nothing. |
your sig says by 2013. always though by meant before, not during so if the nextbox and the ps4 come out in 2013 would that not make you wrong?
I do think 2013 is the most likely date, but i dont expect announcements form MS or sony until after Christmas 2012, unless sales just take in the first half the year Ill also say i support longer gens as the cost for game development goes down during the gen (normally) and user base goes up allowing for more sales, cutting gens short like the prior gen is bad for all involved.
(i understand why MS and N launched so soon but have felt that sony could have done better if it waited another year or two and launched at a lower price point with more games and kept the hype of the ps2, i fell the ps2 hurt the xbox more than the ps3 did)

If they were announcing something they would probably go with the Nintendo, "We do not comment on rumors or speculation." This sounds more like a flat out denial, and hoping for otherwise would probably be cause for a large letdown later on.
My Games of 2011:
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Super Mario 3D Land
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

No, I meant by 2013 as in "at the very latest by december 31, 2013". I think most people understand my sig equals that literal definition.
Also, I'd argue that Sony has to launch no later than a year after the first player. Only SNES was able to come back after such a large head start by its competition and that's more due to the combination of a stranglehold Nintendo had on 3rd parties at the time and Super Mario World.

Ive always felt if the PS3 launched out of band by two years it could have defined its own gen, and with minor hard ware tweaks could have claimed it was the only real next gen console, and launched at a break even point in hardware costs. I think it would be harder for them to carry that out this time due to damage to the brand this last gen, so i do agree that launching within a year this time in needed and i do not feel the ps3 can compete with the nextbox where i feel the ps2 and the thought of how good a ps3 would be could hold 360 sales down. MS launched the 360 when they did because they had to, to have a chance at stopping the money hemorrhage and to make a dent, sony was still making money and could have waited with the ps3
*hmm for that i thought it would have to say by the end of 2013, but then im an odd duck

Well, you may have just been the first one to say something while others thought the same. So, I clarified it. :)
superchunk said: They didn't? My point: Sony will blatantly lie about it until the day they release it. My links: Sony actively and blatantly lied about NGP/Vita's existence until the day they released it. I don't see how my point wasn't made. Both deny a PSP2 and the last one was a mere six months out of official release. I also don't see why you're arguing the point. What company would admit they have a replacement product coming before they were completely ready to advertise and demo it properly? Its not a bad thing Sony lies like this, its just good business. |
It depends, if lowering your credibility have a worst effect then not commenting on the rumor, this isnt good business by any mean. Im not saying it necessarily does, but its worth some thinking. Is this really a rumor that will push non PS3 owner to not purchase a PS3? Does people outside the hardcore video game world even know about this rumor?
We'll see. Remember, Sony is the king of spin and love to lie. If something is going to be shown at the E3, they aren't going to tell the public, that's for sure. I still don't expect a new XBox or Playstation until 2013. The Wii U will probably be out in Oct. in Japan and Dec for U.S. and Europe.
