Sony's Kaz Hirai: no PlayStation 4 at E3

It looks like you can officially put any hopes of a PlayStation 4 announcement at E3 to rest. In a roundtable with reporters at CES, Sony's Kaz Hirai responded to a question about recent comments attributed to gaming division head Andrew House by stating that "Andy is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3." Hirai further added that he's "always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that." That ten-year life cycle would place the PS3's end-of-life around 2016, but as with the PS2 and PS3, we'd expect some overlap between the PS3 and its eventual successor.

... eyeroll, because the PS2 came xxactly 10 years after PS1 and PS3 xxactly 10 years and PSP xxactly 10 years.

of course there not gonna the announce it by saying yes we will announce PS4 at E3!

Like he's going to come out in January and say "oh sure in June, we'll announce something..."

You are right and I can dream...but then again....when was the 3DS announced? I seem to remember it being long before E3

I don't mind them unveiling this but I don't want it until 2013

If both MS and Nintendo have something to show at E3, I doubt Sony would want to be left out.

I didn't say they won't announce early, but that's only if they feel its better than the many leaks that are coming anyways. PS4 started having leaks in some capacity late last year and another one this year already.

But no company is going to say somethign new is coming until its right for them. At this point Sony's leaks have been minimal and they tend to ignore leaks until an actual show case. Just as they did with NGP/Vita. Include flat out denials, which they also did with NGP/Vita.

I'm not disagreeing with you here but did they actually deny anything about the psv?

He could simply not comment on the rumor instead of lying.
