They should just close down and redo the whole damn thing.

Their keeping it open to squeeze out of that yen and $$$ , remaking, there's no point in that lol.

They should take out the negative aspects through maintenance rather than remaking it, I wouldnt be surprised if FFXV and FFXVI will be announced when FFXIV 2.0 comes out lol

Man, and people still believe this game is going to make it to the end of 2012?

In SE's defense though people must be crazy to not want to play a horribly outdated bad game.

That sucks, SE seriously just make it FTP FFXIV's clearly slumping to the depths of fiery hell.

Ouch, you'd think they would go the free route at this rate. Guess they're doing whatever they can to not make it look like failure.

I give it 1 more year before the plug is pulled for continuing support for this title.

Those numbers are terrible.

You make crap this is what you get.
SE thinks their FF fans will pull buy any of their crap.
This generation should be an eye-opener for SE. You can't just make crap and expect $$.

All you doom sayers that belive if an MMORPG is not WOW it should not exist make me sick FFXIV is awesome now with patch 1.20 onwards and with the awesome 2.0 ver with and even if it becomes just a colt game it will still continue to be viable like FFXI was for a long time

Only 1 person mentioned WOW in this thread. To be honest, most people hated the fact the game was not ready to be released yet they released it anyway on the PC. Then the PS3 version of the game essentially just disappeared for a long time, which has also lead to some hostility from people who do not have a gaming PC.

Errr... no one said that. There are plenty of MMORPGs out at the moment that make FFXIV look terrible. They released it in a poor state and delayed the PS3 version. The results are obvious for everyone to see in the OP.

*Trolling*
MMO's are terrible in general.

I support SE, as I think they get way too much irrational hate. But, my thoughtson this.

Even if it gets to a better. It still has to compete with World of Warcraft (it is dieing though), and The Old Republic. But it won't have the hype like the old republic did, because FFXIV already has the stigma that it is aweful.
Whether it is improving or not. The best chance it has to get subscribers was to have a decent launch. Which it didn't. I played it at the end of the beta and being a PC gamer, that was one of the worst beta's I've ever played. Aside from looking beautiful.

To me it seems like simple economics. If the amount of work in $ they actually putting into it is less than the money from current revenue. It makes sense to keep it alive and to entice a bit more people to come in.

If that's not the case, the idk.
