You make crap this is what you get.
SE thinks their FF fans will pull buy any of their crap.
This generation should be an eye-opener for SE. You can't just make crap and expect $$.

All you doom sayers that belive if an MMORPG is not WOW it should not exist make me sick FFXIV is awesome now with patch 1.20 onwards and with the awesome 2.0 ver with and even if it becomes just a colt game it will still continue to be viable like FFXI was for a long time

Errr... no one said that. There are plenty of MMORPGs out at the moment that make FFXIV look terrible. They released it in a poor state and delayed the PS3 version. The results are obvious for everyone to see in the OP.

MMO's are terrible in general.

I support SE, as I think they get way too much irrational hate. But, my thoughtson this.

Even if it gets to a better. It still has to compete with World of Warcraft (it is dieing though), and The Old Republic. But it won't have the hype like the old republic did, because FFXIV already has the stigma that it is aweful.
Whether it is improving or not. The best chance it has to get subscribers was to have a decent launch. Which it didn't. I played it at the end of the beta and being a PC gamer, that was one of the worst beta's I've ever played. Aside from looking beautiful.

To me it seems like simple economics. If the amount of work in $ they actually putting into it is less than the money from current revenue. It makes sense to keep it alive and to entice a bit more people to come in.

If that's not the case, the idk.

Anyone have FFXI numbers during the same time-frame after launch?

The game is doing much better now and a lot of my friends from FFXI are now on it. I've been playing it non-stop for weeks/months and my 3DS/Wii are collecting dust LOL I got all of my Disciiples of War and Magic classes to Lv30 and unlocked the jobs. I'm not tired of it one bit. I just logged off the game for the night, though. I will be on it tomorrow. I gotta get Gladiator/Paladin to Lv35.

My PC collects dust and I game on it everyday.

And it's not like console gaming is actually, ya know, fun.
