Forums - Sales Discussion - Microsoft: 960k 360's sold during Black Friday Week in U.S

LOL, I knew Seece's preview reeked of something fishy....he was setting you fuckers up, big time. I mean all that Wii talk and like one sentence of Xbox tipped me off. Honestly this is what I was kind of expecting with all of BF hype and crazy ass sales. Still though it's amazing. I am also keeping an open mind to the adjustments that will most likely take place when the dust settles.

This is cool though because with all of those new 360s out there, a whole new crop of little MW3 noobs will emerge for me to feast on their souls and fatten the ol' KD.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Holy crap!!

Yay!!!

For the record, if you go by Microsoft, Nintendo and newly-minted VGC US data for November data you get:

X360 - 1.6m (960,000 BF week says Microsoft, our data has 640k for the other three weeks)

Wii - 1m (roughly - I'm assuming Wii did 100k on Nov 20-23, and Nov 26, as the 500k was for Nov 25 and Nov 24 is only 2 hours of sales anyway)

3DS - likely 850k. Certainly between 600k - 1m based on Nintendo's non-data release

PS3 - 700k?  PS3 BF week sales were 155,000 in 2007, 130,000 in 2008, and then 440,000 in 2009 when PS3 stopped being ludicrously expensive. Thing is PS3 sold 250,000 in October 2011 vs. 320,000 in October 2009. The BF week: Oct week ratio was 11:2 in 2009 for PS3, which would give ~340,000 for Black Friday week in 2011. PS3 did have a recent price cut as well...but its pretty clear X360 (and Wii) were the systems getting big lifts at retail. We have 330k for pre-BF PS3 sales in the USA, so I'd expect around 700k for PS3.

DS - Down a lot from last year...still big?

PSP - Down a bit.

PS2 - Down a lot

Our data obviously has margins of error, but its probably safe to conclude Wii was 900k - 1.3m, X360 was 1.3m - 1.7m, PS3 was 500k - 900k, 3DS was 600k - 1m, with DS at maybe 400k - 1m, and PSP 100k - 200k, and PS2 at 20k - 30k.

My guess is NPD will have 1.5m for X360, 1.1m for Wii, 850k for 3DS, 680k for PS3, 620k for DS, 150k for PSP, and 25k for PS2.

That's a range of 3.8m to 6.1m - bodes well on the hardware side for the US with total hardware at 5.05m last November.

I didn't even think this was possible. Its also amazing how they managed to track the sales.
900k...Crazy.

You were doing so well until you said it was a possibility the Wii and 360 could tie ^^, redeemed yourself slightly with your actual predictions though.

This has renewed my faith in the 360's ability to win in 2011! :D

I think some of you should pay very close attention to my December / Christmas sales preview that will be going up in about 2 weeks given how spot on I was with Black Friday.

is 360 shipment for December still crazy(like more than 2010 Dec)?

@ D-Joe

Yeah its insane and the most shocking part of all to me is Kinect. I knew Kinect was a big hit in the holidays and such and I've been predicting for months now that the 360 would own the holidays but even I was a little confused when I was getting these ultra massive shipments from MS. All I can say is 360 will quite easily have its largest holiday ever and Kinect is gonna smash through the numbers it put up last year as well.

So, basically if the 360 sold 1.6 this month they will completely wipe out any sales the PS3 was advancing in. Glad MS is still shoving it in Sony's face!
