Some of you are forgetting that Dark Souls, Skyrim, and Batman Arkham City are also coming out this year...oh wait I also forgot Battlefield 3

true, ive never played any of the games tho so i didnt know.. but how could a freeroam game win goty? thats like saying GTA4 is goty worthy when it wasnt that great to me..

we know about them but i see uncharted just a little bit a head of those games.. it gets bigger and better each year.. from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3

oh i have, and its the best freeroam game out. its story was damn good thats what made it so good.

Lets see. It will have the best console graphics this year and that's about it. It really is disappointing that people are praising it so much especially this video.

Lets look at the cons of the game
Crappy AI- Check
Terrible Story- Check, anyone who thinks a story about a treasure hunter who is basically a super hero is good is just an action movie junkie... 
Repetitive combat check - Nothing seems special about the shooting combat, the action sequences will be mashing one button and watching drake do some cool moves like in uncharted 2, no actual combos.
The platforming sequences in uncharted 2 made you feel really bad ass, falling through floors, platforms braking, and your still killing all the enemies. From what I've seen they look exactly the same in uncharted 3, and since those of us who have played uncharted 2 have already experienced them once, they won't feel as awsome the second time around.
The multiplayer beta just had features that any other fps and multiplayer tps has, except you're jumping around a lot more than in typical console multiplayer games.
Uncharted 2 won so much praise due to its photorealism and platforming sequences that made you feel badass. Those features won't impress people as much this year since they have already seen them. Critics have been especially harsh on sequals that don't seem to improve too much from their predecessors other than improving graphics. Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 got much worse scores then their predecessors because having amazing graphics doesn't incline reviewers to give a game an extra 10 points like it has before. 
I won't completetly write off the game now since I haven't played it yet, but if it ends up being uncharted 2 with better graphics and a multiplayer that better appeals to casuals like I think it will be, then already portal 2 and littlebigplanet 2 will have it beat in terms of critical acclaim, and if elder scrolls V, dark souls, and Batman AA live up to their hype they will also be more likely to win GOTY awards.

Why does the game have to only be great in your eyes to win GOTY?  We all have different tastes on what "greatness" actually is.  After diving into Fallout 3 (although I haven't completed it yet), I'd give Fallout 3 a 7.5.  I'm fine with it being recognized at one of 2008's best games since it's an opinion.

Well GTA4 was GOTY worthy to me and many others. You should play Oblivion/Skyrim and see for yourself why they're great!


thats your opinion and i respect that. and everyone should respect my opinion as welll.. and ima get skyrim is looks fun and interesting
