I don't trust old users about how good the "good ol' days" were. In pretty much every community I've been to, older members always moan about how things are far worse than they used to be. People just dislike change and claim the older times were better when, in three years time, there'll be people moaning about the terrible '13 members and how awesome 2010 was.

Oh, and if we're to go by older members of this site, then clearly it's better for this community if Wii succeeds, ;). Apparently, things have been ruined since Wii started dropping off in 2010, xD.

You're right. I disagree with them.

Nah, back before the site added on the news/reviews, the site was much more sales focused.  This attracted a much more intelligent crowd.  The trolls existed all the same (Hus, Blu, Leo-J back before he went through Puberty, Crazzyman, etc.) but the discussions were a lot more interesting because of the unique userbase the site attracted and the awesome discussions they had.

My first post was on a thread predicting MP3 sales, where multiple users (myself included) were modeling the sales graph using various functions (mostly using exponential decay).  There were 1000 word jutifications for why MP3 would sell 300k in the first month vs. 500k.  I'd also like to point out that my predictions were spot on.  Like, it's ridiculous how accurate I was.

Because everyone knows that 2008 users are the best

but in all seriousness 2010 and 2011 so far haven't had anyone that great.  Just lots and lots of members who join for a short time, post about 100 - 200 times then either get banned or go into Lurker mode.

Also compared to the older days the site seems to have far less good discussion, and more "fanboy" and console wars battles.

I'll drink to that!

Cheers

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

Nowadays, you get called a troll or something as soon as you try to post anything remotely negative about Sony. Even all you did was posting the article and said nothing.

It's also impossible to joke since everyone are so serious.

However, it's totally fine to post news of an announcement of an upcoming announcement of some unknown games that may be in development.

VGChartz has like seven legitimately good posters and then the rest are just cartoon characters who get into the exact same arguments, say the exact same things in threads based on topics that get used three times a week. It's like they all have their own catch phrases or something.

Good posters:

Seece

CGI-Quality

Jarrod

Rolstoppable

Badgenome

Mr. Khan

Kantor

Honourable mentions:

d12Lewis (Sometimes his good, but his jokes fall on to the sexual side way to often, his turning into the Stripperela of VGChartz).

SpartenOmega117

Rocket Pig

Rainbird

Patapon

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

That issue doesn't seem at all big here. I went on this forum on another site and stated about an award I had gained, but they had no empathy, basically they compalined about me getting this award.

No offense, but I'd imagine that if some guy made a thread here about winning a competition (and a pretty unimportant one, at that) on another site, I doubt the amount of people genuinely caring would need two hands to count.

EDIT: I decided to Google that thread, and honestly, the reactions weren't that outrageous. Some of them went a bit over the line, but well, whaddaya expect from the Internet?

You're to young to remember John_Lucas, aren't you?

Forget what I said earlier lol. I actually joined in 2008, but forgot I had this account until recently, so I thought I was a 2011 member.......

.......GO 2008!!!!!!     lolz

As the year went on, I think we've seen some pretty good users. Troll-whisperer, TheEvilBanana, & Pezus are all awesome IMO. Rainbow_Yoshi is just exaggerating.
