The companies won't outright say what they had to change, but one of the guys at SE did let it slip that half of the content was cut out.

Source?  Because the widely publicized post-mordem pretty squarely laid the lack of content at the feet of HD asset creation (ie: it took too long and cost too much).  If there really was a version of FFXIII with double the content, it'd have taken around 8 years to make and probably pushed the budget north of $200m.

What was cut was the postgame DLC scenarios and it's not clear if that was due to 360 or PS3 (360 has stricter regulations on pricepoints and scheduling, but PS3 has higher fees for hosting and a fragmented approval/QA process), but the rumor is now that stuff's being reworked into a new "FFXIII-2" game or something anyway.

I do actually agree with you that there really is no proof whether they cut content due to the multiplat decision.

Do I think VS will go to 360?

Absolutely.  Wada would probably go as far as push it to be a 360 exclusive if 3/4 of the sales weren't going to be on the 360.  Wada has definitely tried to get his fans to go for the 360 over the PS3 this generation.

Will I be angry because of a fanboy issue?

No.  I think it's fine that more people get to play it.  However, I would prefer seeing SE be able to make the best game they can for one platform and not need to focus on trying to accomodate the limitations of having to juggle multiplatform development.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

yeesh, I thought these games were vaporware. Guess due to their long dev time SqEx would HAVE to port them to recoup costs.

FinalEvangelion, i think it was Ismai Kamiyouko (yeah his name is spelt wrong), the art director who said that they had to cut some things from the game, like Team Nora's base, and a zoo near lightnings house.. personally i doubt this means much more gameplay and a less linear game. i dont believe there was a lot of content cut, just ideas they had that were never really implemented. (however i dont know, just my own thoughts).

Jarrod, imo the problem hasnt been just the HD, its been the new game engine and the 6 hours of cutscenes. imo they shouldve used the FF12 game engine and upscaled everything into HD 720p and released it at the beginning of the gen, because remember FF13 was originally meant to be on PS2 and it was already one year in development by then. so now they wasted 5 years on Crystal Tools, and now Luminous is in and Crystal tools is out. just a piss poor job all round imo.

imo FinalEvangelion, VS should go multiplat, FF13 might not even sell 6mil units, and its sold 1.5 mil on the 360, considering the 360 isnt popular in Japan, thats a substantial amount a units sold for the west. imo the series is venerunrable now after FF13 and 14, so imo a multiplatform release is the first thing on Wada's mind.

If they had pushed the PS3 version of FFXIII more by giving it also some exclusive commercials and some bundles, i'm sure that part of those 1.5 million units would just have gone to the PS3.

The fact that it isn't nearly as breath taking as what FFVII & X and where back then, is its biggest problem though. Still a pretty good and solid game, just not great.

Likewise, if they'd released the 360 rev day and date in Japan, the game probably would've passed 2m overall (and met expectations).  SE decided to go with Sony/MS incentives instead in each region, so hopefully it paid off for them overall financially.

I don't know, but lately I have started to get feeling that by releasing your game simoultaniously on both the popular and unpopular console kinda hurts the image of the game of Japan. I wouldn't be surprissed if the new strategy that some publishers have chosen by making there games exclusive for the PS3 in Japan and PS360 everywhere else had something to do with that.

FFXIII on 360 sold well above a million copies why SE wouldnt consider a port for Versus? Last thing I knew the more sales the better for any company... It seems like almost real now, maybe January or so...

As for Agito, I would bet the game is going to 1-1.5mill in Japan, which is good, but why not 3DS, FFIII & FFIV both sold more than a million units in japan only, (And those were old, great, but old games), 2 mill for a FF on 3DS would be normal...

Multiplat releases are good only for must-have games, like COD or AC. All the other games take much more attention if they are exclusive, so they actually benefit for not being multiplat. Let's take Bioshock: Bioshock 1 was a hit on the x360 and it was timed exclusive (one year or so), while on the other hand Bioshock 2 which was multiplat was a half failure on both x360 and ps3. Heavy Rain was a success, but it was also a hyped and discussed exclusive. The same goes with Alan Wake, if it wasn't an hyped exclusive it would go the way of Enslaved or other Action/Adventure new IP's.
