no more 8.8 or 9.9, now everything will either be a X.0 or X.5

That's just stupid.
It's pointless, and just... Well... Stupid.
Does this mean a 10 from IGN will now be a regular thing. For example, if ANY game would rank over 9.5 on the normal scale, is now automatically a 10?
Will it change older review scores? This sorta thing could turn sites like Metacritic and GameRankings on there heads
Edit: I totally should have gone to the link first ¬_¬
Hmm. IGN? Oh well.

I think it makes sense. It's essentially a 20 point system rather than a 100. There's no sense in quibbling over the difference between a 9 and an 8.9 (or an 8.8 as was once so famous), but a 9 and an 8.5 represents something meaningful.

9.6 and 9.7 are closer to 9.5? That's my train of thought anyway. But yeah I agree this isn't such a smart move, games have evolved so much and so the more precise the scores can be the better.
In the grand scale of things it doesn't matter (will get that out the way) but in the event a game should have got 9.7 get's voted down to 9.5? or up to 10 ... hmm
I dont think it makes much difference as most of the reviewers followed the 0 - .5 scale anyways.
