Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 360 will maintain its lead over the PS3 in 2010.

numonex said:

PS3 beats the 360 in the weekly sales by a mere 24k units. With recent adjustments to sales numbers the 360 lead over the PS3 is now  6 million+.
Thank you ioi for the upwards adjustment of sales number for the 360.

360 lead over PS3 now = 6.29 million.

I remember in 2009 when the 360 was outselling the PS3 by less than that, you all were saying that the 360 is dominating and the PS3 should fail any day now. Remember? When the PS3 was at like 95K weekly, while the 360 was only at around 105K?

My Fanboy Speech...

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

---fanboyism is pretty retarded as is defending anything without an argument which creates the term fanboy because most of them defend their console with no argument to back it up other than ZOMG! this game is awesome! i get to shoot stuff! or "the 360 version is better cause its for 360"...ill list everything that is wrong with all 3 consoles and fanboys on this site feel free to throw flames at me with all of your premature ejaculatory rage

That was a considerably long post, and as you pointed out they all have their faults.

But this is how a fanboy would percieve what you wrote.

360 Sucks

PS3 Sucks

Wii Sucks

Argueing with fanboys is pointless, though I give you an A for effort.

2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

1. I've never heard of 4 red ring, it can't be that common, 2 is overheating which may be intermittant and both one and 3 ring are covered by the 3 year warranty. They haven't scratched discs in years during reasonable operation and they have to shut down the original Xbox Live to add support for new features on the Xbox 360. Arcade model is not useless to buy as it comes with storage and hardly anyone plays fighting games anymore anyway, and if you're serious you can get a fighting stick or fighting pad which you ought to be doing anyway. Two many SKUs? There are only two and that can't be hard. Also most people don't use wireless so they can be forgiven for leaving it out of the feature list.

2. PS3 price was not too high, its appeal was too low. The Xbox 360 doesn't come with HD cables either.

3. Online and HD graphics aren't important enough considerations for the kind of gamer who buys these machines. DVD payback is expensive, at about $6 per Wii which comes out to about $360,000,000 so far that they haven't paid in royalties. Online demos/DLC aren't in their target markets either.

Tease.

Great predictions man =)

---you make a very good argument for all 3 consoles...i agree 360 has made plenty of progression since its first screwup. and true there aren't many people playing fighting games the only decent ones out now are tatsunoko vs capcom and you can argue street fighter 4 too. but the d-pad is still terrible however most games are built around it so there's no real problem there. and what i meant when i said too many sku's was referring to the whole 360 cycle which has had more than 2.
---the ps3 appeal was low when it first came out and is slowly growing. and if i remember correctly the 360 did come with component cables in the pro and elite just not HDMI cables.
---and you're absolutely right that the average wii owner doesn't care about online or HD because both are not necessary to enjoy the console. getting 4 friends together for new mario bros wii helps prove that...and nintendo did omit dvd to turn more profit and it wouldn't matter much because who doesn't own a dvd player? I still would like online demo's though its nice to get a feel for the gameplay for free before you buy a game.

Yes, probably too many changes to the SKU system however they have kept it fairly consistant in what each SKU can do. For a while the PS3 was quite confusing for people with no wireless, wireless, no BC, partial BC and various HDD sizes with no clear distinction as to what each SKU was capable of.

The D-pad sucks but its not that important overall.

The Xbox 360 recently removed the HDMI cables, so now both systems are consistant in not offering an HD experience out of the box.

As for the Wiis online, well they are behind the curve on how they implement things. They wait until a technology is mature before they use it and HD graphics and online were not mature systems before the Wii came out.

Every 360 is prebuilt with the 4 red rings fault Squillim, try unplugging your AV cable sometime and turning your 360 on, you might be surprised.  In summary its very very rarely a fault with the console.
