I do. People dont realise they can still be in the red.

Unfortunatly its true... I still think they will be in the red for the quarter, maybe not by much, but still...

I do believe Sony will continue to gain momentum for awhile longer, so it's only a matter of time before people are forced to admit it's victory over the 360. They won't be able to spin the numbers any other way. :P

the ps3 has not even come close to victory over 360. its lost like 5 billion dollars and increasing while 360 has lost like a billion dollars and decreasing. so far off from a victory it can almost be said the other way.

WRONG!!!

Last time I checked it was something like Sony : 3-4 bil while M$ - 5-6 bil!!! (don't you dare exclude the original xbox money waster again)

@ OP, hope this is true, or better yet Sony surpasses Nikkei expectation.

Sony been at it finest in 2009, bring great gaming totruegamers. And I'm sure Sony will top it this year!

I didn't know there was a rule that you have to compare the Xbox and Xbox 360 losses to the PS3. Also what is this about "true gamers"? Are you saying without a PS3 you can't be a true gamer?

On topic congratulations to Sony for finally getting things headed in the right direction. Hopefully for them this momentum is sustained.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

1 Billion profit it a hell of alot better than a 1 Billion dollar loss.

Yeah I know, still better than what they have been doing though.

Oh, much better than before, but such recovery was already to be expected.

@pap

Net profit is profit (loss) is after tax and ALL other overheads such as interest payable

Simply put, Operating profit is revenue less costs and expenses and before any income deductions.

An operating profit can be a loss.

I'm not saying this will be, I'm just pointing this out.

So basically, it's "what I would get if I didn't have to subtract all kinds of additional expenses I need to make to the state and prior loans"?

Net profit is when all those additional payments have been subtracted?

Any idea on how big the difference was last quarter? or last year? Should give some insight of what to expect?

Finally !

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Finally Sony investor meeting has become lot more interesting to look forward to

Good for Sony, there probably making money off the 250 GB PS3 so that probably helped.

Even if it's gross profit before all yearly recurring expenses are deducted, it's still a step forward compared to them posting losses over the previous years.
