Forums - Gaming Discussion - Marvelous execs take pay cuts instead of layoffs of the lower orders

any chance we can show this to the UK Bank execs? no? how about the politicians?

I'm sure they saw it, and are chuckling about it with each other over vintage ports at the moment.

OT: This is Marvelous indeed. I would love to see this in other companies, it would have to be voluntary though, in places like the US the people would just bail if the company suggested it.

Good to see that at least one company still gives a damn about its employees in this era of quarter year economies and profits über alles- mentality.

time to change strategies and make games for XBLA and PSN as well marvelous, stop bleeding money on the wii, exclusivity is not the way to go.

They shifted away from Wii like half a year ago.  If they're doing badly now, it's due to low revenues from more recent DS & PSP projects (Luminous Arc 3, Rune Factory 3, Sakura Note, Hitman Reborn, Postpet, etc).

edit: And PSN/XBLA would be a sure route to failure, they'd just be trading one set of huge problems (distribution/inventory/retail concerns) for another (userbase/awareness/pricepoint concerns).  Digital isn't the way out for Japanese companies making games for a mainly Japanese audience.

This says otherwise.

Nice find and proves why they should be concentrating on the PSP and not the wii.

Welcome to sales from six months ago.  News hit later because of a Marvelous investment call in November, but they haven't released a Wii game since October (Valhalla Knights ES), and before that in the summer.  They've been doing even worse recently, even on DS.

That would be "killer" but wasn't that demon blade game already on ps2?

It's a pity they had to resort to this because they have such great titles.

Repackaging $50 retail games as $15 downloadables won't help, and might not even profit per project honestly.  What they need(ed) to do is PSP ports of stuff like Rune Factory Frontier, Muramasa and Little King's Story, but it may be too late now... their recent DS/PSP releases are mostly flopping too.

Next bomb: No More Heroes HD.
