Since when are music and games the same thing?

Since they are digital media targetting the same audience?

So Mass Effect 2 for the PC is already out and up for download.

-1 week earlier

-No SecuROM crap

-No GFWL crap

-No other DRM crap

-Easy as hell installation (compared to GFWL and all that)

--------------------

all this is the sad thruth

but another truth even sadder is that even without that, people would still pirate the game because most pirates are cheap jackasses

Why Piracy is so high? Because its free vs actually having to pay the producers. If PC games sales were higher it would justify a lot more development and fewer cheap ports when they do come across.

considering that there are far more games being developed on PC than in all consoles combined, PC will survive easily.

I know all about SecuROM, but what's this GFWL stuff?

If you google around you will find tons of problems with it. It is, for a lack of better word, laughable.

I have the deluxe edition pre-ordered on steam personally, I would have pirated if I had no money though.

That's why I pirate music...

- I don't want to go to the record store
- Search for the CD
- Talk to the 16-year old Jonas Brothers loving cashier
- Get a knife or sissor
- Get the plastic wrapper of the CD
- Open the case
- Put the CD into my CD-player
- Switching CD's when I want to listen to other CD's
- Converting the CD to play it on my iPod

thats why I pirate music! Gaaaarrrwww!!

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Year after year it has been proven that music pirates buy tons more music than do people who don't pirate music. I have a very strong hunch it's the same with video game piracy.

Music costs $1.99 a track now compared to $60 for a game, and music has always been given away free on the radio so there isn't the same desire to pirate. Anyone who I know that used to pirate with the PS2 who now owns a PS3 doesn't pirate anymore.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

If by "better in every respect" you mean "exactly the same product minus a couple of copy protection schemes amounting to such a minor annoyance that anyone who uses them as an excuse to pirate software immediately comes across as not just cheap but intellectually bankrupt and void of a moral compass" then yes.

No i mean "anyone who knows anything about computers will realize that SecuROM is a serious breach and GFWL is a huge thorn in people's lives" then yeah, it is better in every way.

What does SecuRom do anyway?   I know i'd instal a pirated copy with Starforce protection over a legal copy anyday. (Though I'd buy the legal copy then download the pirated version.)

Starforce breaks CD drives.
