Mario 250k right on target with Famitsu.

Ace Combat 6 got a nice 10k bump from MC data. I wonder if the 360 will beat the PS3 this week.

Three 360 titles in top 30. Impressive. No PS3 titles ... wth?

I'm not surprised, considering the deals Microsoft gave the Japanese market.

its just ace combat really. Ace Combat = insane sales for Japan. Sony will be feeling the hurt for losing that franchise.

@ ssj12

Actually, this week Microsoft not only had AC6, but released a new, lower-priced bundle, and three (I believe it was 3?) games were given a discount price.
Obviously the combined effect was very positive, although its more important if it can keep sales elevated, which we'll see in the coming few weeks.

sad to say but its only becaue of AC6.. Japan hates the 360 normally.. sales will die quickly.. then jump because of holidays then die again to the 3 - 4K a week thing.

Way to totally misread the situation.  You actually think the fact there was a price drop and new bundles with 2 free games and a bunch of discounted games had no affect?

I'd say insane is an exaggeration.  Looking at the database on here, not one of them broke 500k.  I'd say "well".

All in all, the charts look similiar to last year:

- dominated by DS
- spattering of PS2 titles (3 in top 30)

PSP software struggles (3 in top 30, best at #17), no PS3 software - 5 Wii titles in top #30.

Well, 16K in sales is not exactly a raving success. The 360 has had other spikes like this, I think Blue Dragon pushed sales up much more, but the console has never developed any traction.

I'd say for the 360, especially if it beats the PS3 this week, it is a big success.

For how bad the the xbox brand has done in Japan, a rational person would never dream of it coming close to a playstation, let alone beating it.

But, the Japanese haven't exactly been rational as of late.
