I wouldn't exactly consider it insulting considering what it is, but the end boss (Bowser) of Mario is Missing. Since you literally just see a dialogue of Luigi and Bowser and then he goes flying off.

Bowser from Super Mario Galaxy was pretty pathetic, but Bowser as a last boss is usually easy to defeat (dunno about the last Mario game, though). The most easy for me was Majora's Mask. Getting the fierce deity mask just to that was a waste.
