DS is a must ! You have all type if rpg, all genre, and a lot of them !

Loads of excellent remakes(dragon quest 4 5 6, all FF, chrono trigger...) and lot of brand new installements... (suikoden t., okami-Den, new siren the wanderer, tales of, kungdom hearts...)

You have both niche games (contact, lunar...) and blockbusters... (Fire emblem, Zelda PH, Zelda ST...)


You might give a look at psp too for old ps classics

Yup, sir. You gave me your unbiased opinion and you explained to me what makes the PSP games better for you. As for your view of quality I think the DS has more RPG games with quality (excluding graphics) to offer than the PSP but I don't think I will change your mind because you have a formed opinion on your real experience with both systems, and if you have an experience with both systems but you think the PSP is better, I should respect it.

So let us say for example I came into this thread and knew for a fact that I prefer JRPGs and I look at the current and upcoming JRPG lineup for the PS3 and see that it is loaded with JRPGs, your saying that even if say I don't like WRPG at all I still need to vote for PC and/or 360 because they have more?

Sorry but I see no sense in that. This is an opinionated poll. What is best is entirely subjective and who has most isn't what counts, what counts is what is considered the best by the one who is voting.

Those whining about "PS3 fans overtaking the polls" are just being childish. They can vote for whatever they like and people need to get used to that.

The question is not about your favourite console/handheld you play RPGs on. It's about "the best console for RPGs", so no it's not about opinions.

It seems like very few people in this forum can judge games objectively.

Hell I don't like the Zelda games and I still acknowledge them for what they are. Great games.

 

I don't care for the majority of DS RPGs and yet I still voted for it, because it has lots of them and they're well received amongst gamers and critics.

I disagree. How can you for example declare that the 360 for example is the best console for RPGs when taste in RPGs vary?

 

Also how can you judge a game objectively? It is all subjective. This is why some great game are disliked and vise versa.

 

As for your last sentence I ask you this:

 

Is my opinion now wrong because I do not care for what critics think? Why are they the end all?

 

My opinion > Anyone else for me. End of story.

I am sure this is how many others feel as well.

 

Someone would need to be crazy if they expect someone to give and opinion like:

"I don't like any of the RPGs on that console but it is still better than the one that has the games I like."

You're obsessed with the word "critics" or something ? I mentioned it one time and I even put it at the end of the sentence, because it was my intention to focus on the gamers.

and yeah my opinion > opinion of anybody else. But I say it again. It's not about you.

So: My opinion = meaningless in this case.

Now let's say I'd hate Demon's Souls and now someone makes up a thread asking if he should get Demon's Souls.

According to your logic I must say : "No it's a terrible RPG. Stay as far away from it as you can." (That would be my opinon)

Or I could say: "Well I didn't like it, but there were a lot of people liking it and it received many GOTY nominees. So there must be something in the game that caused fun, but unfortunately I didn't find it. So yeah why not, give it a try." (neutral view on the matter)

for me its the ps3.. this year will be amazing for ps3 jrpg's
but ofcourse ps2 is still rpg king alonside the ds.

and the psp has also a freak load of rpg's but noo one want to say it or knows about it

I mention critics because you say that people here have issues judging games objectively. How else would one judge something objectively unless there is a be all end all for what makes one game and/or system better then the rest?

 

Point is that there is no objective answer in this case. How can someone say DS is the best if they played no games for it and only have experience with PSP games? How can they say DS is the best if they did not like the games and they like the PSP games? You can't force anyone to vote on an answer that you or anyone else thinks is the defininitive answer. In the end there are no right answers, only opinions.

 

If you don't like Demon's Souls that is fine. I never said anything is wrong with that. There are plenty of people who dislike it.

 

I feel people should make votes based on personal experience, not vote on something if you know nothing about it. That to me is a blind vote and not someone speaking their mind but speaking from someone elses.

I like how carl managed to throw in the PS1 and maybe the PS2 back catalog in for the PS3, but ignored the original Xbox for the 360 entirely.

Because it had 24 RPG's, with only 4/5 worth mentioning... So it was pretty pointless.

Compare that to the 178 on PS1, and the 251 on PS2... Yes?

And for someone who hates JRPGs and loves WRPGs, just about all of the 251 titles on the PS2 are pointless, so I still don't see how you can ignore the original Xbox.
