Ps1 was produced until 2006 (11+ years). And imho the Ps1 sold less in the same time then the Ps3. It was 27 Mio or 29 after 3 years the PS3 will sit on 31 Million.

The PS2 is on the market 10 years and it just launched in Brasil it will stay on the market a lot longer then the PS1 maybe the Ps3 will last easily until 2016. It wont be the only Sony console but they will produce it.

PS3 has seen continued growth every year on the market. It still has it's biggest selling exclusive game(s) to come, is still yet to reach a mass market pricepoint (Under $200) and is still yet to be profitable.

I think it's safe to say it's going to be around for quite some time

yep thats why its on its upcoming 4rth year, and its selling better than ever!

It might seem that way, but after the big week of the FFXIII launch there are now fewer potential customers. Think about it!
