I never understood why Achievments are so important they just a number on the internet that means nothing (well maybe how much time u spent playing), maybe im not hardcore but i just think that getting some ridicilous achievments on the 360 is a waste of time.

Wow, how wrong and biased can someone be! i bet if the wii had them you would be LOVING them....

Dude i've got a 360 and i love it , but  literally i couldnt care less for Gamerscore, especially when majority of Achievments are damn hard and have nothing to do with the plot. Therefore achievments have no value to me.

I think Achievments are done well in Fallout 3 when they are given through natural progression of the game, it doesnt force you to try some ridicilous stuff for ages just to get meaningless 100G. And they are definately not as revolutionary as motion controlls

But that's just my opinion.

I agree with him, and I have a 360. Hell I have been on the hunt for a new game to play on it recently. The difficulty of the achievements is meaningless to me. I usually just don't care about them. It doesn't inspire me to try something new and exciting. Normally its just some random retarded feat that I don't even care to attempt.

Also, there are plenty of Wii games with achievments. I ignore them as well for the same reasons. I did go after a lot of the ones for Brawl, and Soul Calibur 4 though. This is because of in game rewards associated with them though.

So, I'm not sure how much longer this thread is going to go, but if there are any folks here who are looking for a great Nintendo podcast to replace the never-all-that-fun IGN one, I'd like to suggest Radio Free Nintendo. It's funny, it's not-at-all fanboyish (all the cast have other systems too, and talk about those games at least once per episode), and the Retroactive's are AWESOME. Download the Super Metroid one in particular; I'm sure it'll make you want to listen to more.

A whole show about Super Metroid???  That sounds like the place for me.

I know this has gone horribly off topic but concidering the subject im not really too bothered.

Your right Radio Free Nintendo is one of my favorite podcasts out there. These guys are really great. Cory Lewis was a great interview for sure.

Here are some other great Nintendo podcasts for anyone that cares.

GoNintendo - With a hosts name like "Raw Meat Cowboy" you know you cant go wrong.

Infendo Radio

The Wiire - The Wiire is my longest listen to podcast. It was the first i picked up after getting my Wii in 08. They started off 7/27/05! When i first got them, in 08, i listened to EVERY 1hr ep all the way up to the present at work. I work 12 hr days and listen to them all day so i had a lot of time to fill at work lol. There podcast used to be called the Revolution Report because there was no Wii back then.

IGN Nintendo Team - Oh wait i just unsubscribed.....No really imnot joking. I have liked these guys a lot in the past but i dont know what to say. They have lost there F'in minds.

Double post , on everything that its true

-Wii sucks because PS3/360 have achievements.

// True

-Achievements are an innovation as big as motion controls. Achievements are a better innovation than motion controls.

// True

-When you play Wii games, you do not feel any accomplishment.

// Not true

-Mad World is awesome, it would have sold if it had achievements and social networking.

// Not true - Maddworld is another crap game then thinks pure violence sells - it's failure is in line with for example Manhunt 2.

-Wants the Miis to copy Avatars in having clothes.

// Who cares?

-Mentions Wii Sports Resort and other games by saying it has achievements in it. But says it doesn’t matter because the achievements do not go ‘beyond the game’.

// True

-Mention people in the comments defending Nintendo. “Nintendo fanboys have brainwashed themselves.” IGN staff then mocks Nintendo fans by pretending to be brainwashed: “I don’t want achievements!” “I don’t want HD!” “I don’t want to just sit on the couch and just play!” “I don’t want to get up and wave my arms!”

// Man they must be reading VGChartz a lot.

-Quote: “Turning on my Wii is a very lonely experience” because Wii doesn’t have some Xbox Live system.

// Who cares about Live system ?

-”I don’t know anyone in the Bay area who doesn’t live with a room-mate.” (Not sure I want to interpret that…)

// WTF ?

-Podcast then switches to talking about Cassamassina’s “Nintendo is lazy” column. -Talks about how Gamecube Nintendo used to push big huge games with cutting edge graphics.

// True

-Says Nintendo stopped doing this because they couldn’t compete. (No mention of Blue Ocean Strategy.)

// True , blue ocean strategy is just excuse I don't see how it has anything in common with lack of quality.

-”Wii has been phenomenally successful, but it is the first Nintendo console I do not want to play.”

// True biggest appeal Wii has is BC and easy access to lots of classics.

“A great example of this would be the new Super Mario Brothers for the Wii.” -Mario 5 doesn’t set the world on fire in how it uses the Wii. It is just “Here’s the game!” -Call Mario 5 a DS port. “Nintendo just took everything that worked on the DS and just put it on the Wii.” -”That is how Nintendo has been so financially successful.” -Says there was no money put into Mario 5. No money for Research and Development.

// True

-Wii is a Gamecube with a new peripheral.

// Oh boy he would be so banned for saying this on VGC

-Nintendo has given up the battle of the epic games to Microsoft and Sony. “Absolutely,” replies another.

// Absolutely is a good word here.

-Nintendo doesn’t care to enter the battle of Microsoft and Sony. “And I think it is hurting them in the long run.” -Nintendo needs to go after the hardcore. One person says their mom has a Wii and hasn’t bought a game for it.

// Not really they are doing great money milking people.

-One person used his Mom’s Wii, puts in the new Mario game, declares the Wii controllers are all dead, then updates the Wii’s firmware. Then says he updates the firmware yet again.

// Rather normal for any current gen console not used for months or years.

-Craig Harris isn’t happy how people accept what Nintendo is doing by not putting epic stories into their games. “Link doesn’t talk!” -Craig Harris after demanding that Nintendo games have voice acting: “I really want to play games like Uncharted 2 on the Wii.” -”Assassin’s Creed 2 feels like a Mature Zelda game.”

// Having voice acting certainly don't hurt.

-Craig Harris: “I know video games are in the money making business. But companies like Microsoft and Sony are doing certain things and if Nintendo is going to sit back and relax…” -”They’re betting that the casual market will be there forever.” -Nintendo is doomed because Wii is going to become like the N64. Sony is going to sneak up through them.

// I certainly wouldn't mind that.

-”Wii totally reminds me of how it is used in casual households is like the crappy systems you see in Walgreens when you are checking out. Plug and play guitars!” “It’s like a little gimmick when you want to do something with it.” -Keeps attacking the “casual audience”. -Likens the “casual players” to what caused the Atari crash in 1983 (not joking, they said it). -Says Nintendo is where it is at the end of the latter SNES days where Nintendo is sitting comfortably and getting ready to make the N64.

// That's second ban on VGC for him ;)

I intended to hate that pod cast, but in the end, I wound up agreeing with a lot of what they said. It was worth listening to.
