I don't think Natal or any other Add-on will save the 360 from relinquishing its lead against PS3 in the same way that the Sega CD and 32X couldn't save the Genesis in the 90's.

Oh cmon it's not that big of a difference, they essential do the same thing, Natal does more but it's basically the same.
Maybe it's me but I don't like the idea of Natal. Some features are nice but again like the Wii I don't like the idea of actually moving around, it's much easier to hit a button. And the majority of this gen prefers that over the Wii.
It's the same with the PS Sphere, I dought it'll do anything for the PS3 in sales.
I hope a price cut and Natal can turn things around for the X360 but I doubt it.
I perdict Ps3 will win 2010 by 3 million units.
**Puts up flameshield**. . . Oh no! TOO LATE!
@Gilgamesh- So you're going to stick with the "Natal = eyetoy" thing, huh? I know nothing about you, but that line of reasoning has been proven wrong and sounds very sychophantic. Also, weird grammar thing, are from England perhaps? Because I've seen "doubt" spelled "dought" a few times around here and I'm working if it's a UK thing.

If that's the case, are you expecting the PS3 to pass the 360 in total Worldwide sales at some point? |
Yes, absolutely. In the first half of 2011 I would think?

The comparision is valid. Eyetoy and NATAL share an RGB camera, which represents a tiny fraction of NATAL's capabilities. It is the depth sensor, array microphone, custom processor and especially the on board software that differentiates NATAL. You concept of NATAL's intended use is way too limited. I really don't care that much for NATAL as a primary game controller but have very high hopes for it as UI and controller augmentation device. This will be bundled with every 360 sold.
CGI, you expect the 360 to end this gen in 2nd place, right?

With this ^, I have to full disagree. Natal is just a really large gimick and an add-on. Yes it will be bundled but it is still an add-on. Nintendo is the only company to ever successfully sell and add-on (wii fit-which only sold well because 20-30 something moms want to lose weight but don't want to do a real workout and hope Wii Fit is the answer). No other company has been able to. I see Natal selling to the equivalent of SegaCD or Sega32x. Both of these were add-ons to the original console and were hyped up like crazy. Next think you know, the sales were utterly abysmal. A few people bought it and the rest waited for the Sega Saturn\PS1\N64.
The whole no controller needed for a racing game and some gimmicky paint game? The racing game without a controller is kinda cool, but not accurate. It would be perfect for Mario Kart, but that is a Wii game. I can only imagine a half dozen or so titles that have the success and complexity of an EA Games Wii game. Shallow, boring and full of gimmicks.
It seems like a very interesting concept and may be cool for the ability to start a movie or play a quick fun game with the family without having to pick up your controller. But I think most people will not want to buy an add-on to a console for this minimal real world functionality. Once again, I just don't see it selling well as a conosole add-in. If this is implemented in the next Xbox720 from launch I could see it heping sales because it will be an added feature.
Sorry if some of my post is redundant, I didn't get much sleep.

U crazy?
Can't u see the writings on the wall?
I think it will be a repeat of 2008, honestly. Sony wins the first 8 months, MS wins the last 4 to take the whole year. Sony is already on 45nm chips and have drastically shrank their hardware. They won't be able to cut costs much more from this point on.
The 360 on the other hand is sitting at basically 75% of the original launch price. 4 years and only $100 off (the Elite now is the same as an updated Pro). They have 45nm die shrinks left, Valhalla rumored single chip CPU/GPU, and plenty of room for motherboard and hardware casing shrinking. If MS as of 3 years ago was making $75 profit per system sold (old figure but I can find links to it if you want), they have to be raking in huge profit margins right now on the Elite, and at least breaking even or making small profits on the Arcade as well. They've had 2 more hardware revisions since that $75 profit figure and only dropped the price by ~$100 across the board.
Then we have all that combined with MS's commitment to make this year a knock-out punch of a year. They will be going much larger on advertising of games, especially the new IP Alan Wake, and then when Natal comes around, it will see the attention, advertising, and media coverage of a brand new console launch! That combined with huge cost reductions could see $200 Xbox 360 Elites with bundled Natal and $99 Xbox 360 Arcades. At 5 years in, those prices are more than reasonable. Then in 2011 the Elite could drop to $149, then $99 in 2012 for the end of the generation (Arcade discontinued in 2011). By 2012, the PS3 will still cost about double the 360 because they acted far faster than normal to get the large cost savings from a Slim and are still selling for a loss of $30-50 per console (im estimating).
The way I see it, the PS3 swing back this year was only larger than Xbox 360's last year because it was a combo punch of $100 price cut, Slim redesign, and huge advertising push. Next year MS will repeat the process and gain back any lost ground. By generation's end, I predict the Xbox 360 will still have outsold the PS3 by a minimum of 5 million consoles.
