i doubt this is real. it could be just a mistake. i'm pretty sure it's heavily overtracked. strategy rpgs don't have such a market in america.

THREE different reasons? Really? Why can't you just accept that it sold well?
Unless that was a parody, in which case, well done.

think about it. a year old game in a niche genre suddenly quadrupling it's sales with no bundling, no advertising, and no extra peripheral. must be a mistake.
Nice game, nice sales and deserve hit 1 million.

The PS3 sold a ridiculous amount of hardware, and with the game being hyped up in its community, is there not reason to believe that a lot of these went out and bought a PS3 along with the game?

Not quite.
Interesting to note: This is the highest sales week for the PS3 since it launched. Christmas should be even higher.

It'd be nice to get a new NPD leak... the only ones we have so far do show VGC with a pattern of comparable overtracking though...
Opening month: 33k (VGC has 53k for the same period)
ltd through Jan 2009: 74k (VGC has 98k for the same period)
...VGC also has Japan slightly overtracked (220k) going by Famitsu (199k), though it's possible the BEST version may have climbed a bit off the charts in the 2nd half with the slim surge. We'll know for sure when we get the top 500 next spring.
