Forums - Gaming - Why Nintendo should let the next 2D Mario be on PlayStation 3

I kind of stole your idea and tweaked it a bit:

You mean if Nintendo wants to have a flop on their hands

This man speaks the truth

No.

Super Little Big Bros. will be on the PS3. Nintendo wont have a flop on there hands... They will be making Mario more popular and greater in the eyes of gamers.

Super Little Big Bros. Wii HD... Will then become the 2nd best selling game of all time, behind the original.

Nah, see the reason is the maths, look at little big planet, the title clearly shows the reason it didn't sell as well as NSMB will sell, the discord caued by little and big in the title together in fact helped to contribute to its downfall, people were confused is this game big and great or little and pathetic, it was the fact that little came first that was the final nail in its coffin, as little was assumed to take precedence

See, sales isn't what it's all about. Gamers dont play sales, we play quality. Reviewers dont review sales, they review quality.

That is where Sony will be brainy and gain both the sales AND the quality.

Add "Super" onto the start, and it is guarenteed to sell at least 10 Million in a few weeks. Now, with sales AND quality... mario can finally become the 2D platforming icon he deserves to be. All thanks to Sackboy!

Thats why Mario needs Sackboy's tutoring to really become a 2D platforming icon.

LBP = Major skills required

Mario = Basic skills required.

Not necesary, back in the old days we only had running and jumping and games were more difficult than now, basically because every single thing on the screen could kill you, LBP focus on pulling strings, moving objects, etc. are nice but it isn't quite challenging at all. Some of the levels in NSMB are far more difficult than the ones on LBP.

So yep, LBP is a great game but NSMB is a better plataform IMO

That's fine, thats your opinion.

Im talking about Nintendo's opinion, and the gaming media in general

Then Sony would have to pay at least $13Qn since mario is Nintendo's biggest mascot and therefore it's very expensive.

Nintendo would likely pay Sony.

Mario needs a lift in quality, and Little Big Planet is the only way i see it happening.

Nintendo Would pay sony to take their mascot off them sounds a bit strange, Mario doesn't need much of a lift in quality anyway at the moment, he's got enough quality up his sleeves for now.  I think many people would think similar too.

Sony wont be taking Mario OFF Nintendo, Sony will just be making him better, and more popular.

I don't think people will like mario more because he's on a sony system and how can he be any better since Nintendo has alredy made it so he can't be much better than he is now.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

This would make no sense at all for Nintendo. Ever since the SNES 95% of the reason to own the Nintendo systems has been the exclusivity of Nintendo games. They have always been in the middle of the pack or the back of the pack in terms of power, 3rd party support and media capabilities (the Wii STILL doesn't have a movie store or watch DVD/Blu Ray) and yet they still sell a lot of consoles. They do this because of exclusivity, its the only reason. Imagine the Wii without Wii Play, Wii Sports, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, Zelda, Mario Bros Wii, Mario Kart, Wii Fit ect ect. How many people would buy that console?

That said there might come a day in a generation or two if the next console has Gamecube numbers instead of Wii numbers when Nintendo decides to switch to being a publisher from being a console maker (Sega style). Noone ever thought you'd play Sonic on a non Sega system and yet you can play a Sonic game on pretty much every gaming platform ever now.

I would heartily support such a move from being a console maker to publisher only. I would love to own Nintendo games on my Playstation without dealing with having to buy a second underpowered console (ala Gamecube, Wii) that can't play any of the games I want to play not made by Nintendo. I don't think that will happen for another decade though.

  No, reviewers give opinions, as do gamers, but with sales we have hard numbers.  No the super will be negated by the little, resulting in fewer sales, even a flop, look at NSMB Wii title, clearly a 20 million plus seller, this is where Mario will continue to be great

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

  Well that's why you need more Wii games

See your Wii coefficient is too low, the more Wii games you own the higher your happiness and feeling of quality game ownership rises
