This would make no sense at all for Nintendo. Ever since the SNES 95% of the reason to own the Nintendo systems has been the exclusivity of Nintendo games. They have always been in the middle of the pack or the back of the pack in terms of power, 3rd party support and media capabilities (the Wii STILL doesn't have a movie store or watch DVD/Blu Ray) and yet they still sell a lot of consoles. They do this because of exclusivity, its the only reason. Imagine the Wii without Wii Play, Wii Sports, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, Zelda, Mario Bros Wii, Mario Kart, Wii Fit ect ect. How many people would buy that console?
That said there might come a day in a generation or two if the next console has Gamecube numbers instead of Wii numbers when Nintendo decides to switch to being a publisher from being a console maker (Sega style). Noone ever thought you'd play Sonic on a non Sega system and yet you can play a Sonic game on pretty much every gaming platform ever now.
I would heartily support such a move from being a console maker to publisher only. I would love to own Nintendo games on my Playstation without dealing with having to buy a second underpowered console (ala Gamecube, Wii) that can't play any of the games I want to play not made by Nintendo. I don't think that will happen for another decade though.
