Look at this graph: http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii®1=Total+Other&cons2=PS3®2=Total+Other&cons3=X360®3=Total+Other&start=39019&end=39383&weekly=1 The PS3 hasn't really gained much at all since launch back in March. This holiday will really spell it out. |
It was 200€ ( couple of weeks 250€) more expensive than X360 and still it sold weekly same amount of consoles. Now it has first christmas in europe and it cost only 50€ more than X360.

Microsoft can also do price cuts (and bigger ones than Sony if necessary).
My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957
According to the front page the 360 has sold more in others.
The numbers just got adjusted. ioi added 300k to 360's lifetime sales in others.
ioi seems to be in the process of adjusting the formula. The numbers jump a little bit around, now the XBOX360 is in front in the other regions again.
yeah, one day Wii is first by one million and the other..poof! only for 500k...
1 2 3 not only you and me.
Livin' in sin is the new thing.

The thing is this: the 360 sells very well in November and December. So there's a good chance that Wii/360 sales will be very close during those two months. If the Wii is ahead in September or October, it will probably maintain its lead through the holidays. Right now the Wii is 2.43 units behind the Xbox 360. Let's say that it needs to make this up in 10 months to be likely to catch the 360 by the end of 2008 assuming Nov/Dec sales are a wash for both 2007 and 2008. This means the Wii has to make up 243,000 units per month from January '08 through October '08. Those numbers are clearly not impossible, but I'd say they're unlikely. Of course, you could very reasonably question my assumption that December/November sales will be a wash between the two companies and if the Wii is in supply in 2008, then perhaps sales will be much higher through the holidays than they've been. |
You are exactly right I do question your assumption about the holiday. This year will be wash between the two in NA, but I predict 2007 will be the 360's biggest year in sales and biggest holiday. I think the will will beat the 360 in NA by 60,000 or so per month in NA next year followed by a whooping of 1,000,000 in November and december each. I think it is going to take longer than most for Wiifit to catch on. Plus I predict a pricedrop for all 3 systems next year with Nintendo's being the only one ot really drive sales.
Alos it looks like others nubmers were corrected again so maybe November was right to pick after all.
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
