Forums - Nintendo - why no respect for the wii (nintendo).

^Umm if they earn money on HD, then why are they posting large losses?

Who is posting large losses. I meant the MEDIA. Not the manufacturer. Thats why in the media the HD consoles are dominant. Even though Wii has sold twice as good as PS3 there are more PS3 magazines on the market. And more PS3/Xbox360 fans which look for Information in the Internet. Thats why the focus of the media is on the PS3/360 Wii owners are not as much involved into videogames as the Core gamers.

Besides: Somehow your answer is senseless. What do you meant ? Who is earning money on HD ? Who is posting large losses ? What exactly do you wanted to say ?

Edit: After I read your later posts. I think you meant probably the 3rd party developers. You know that your response has nothing to do with the content of my post ?

I never said a word about the financial status of the 3rd party developers.

And that everyone is posting large losses is news to me. I know some are in trouble like EA but they are in trouble all the time. Ok I will explain you something:

A company is not a person and dont act like one. They have to do everything what the share holders want. And share holders want just ONE thing and thats money. So the Company has to do EVERYTHING to earn enough money. Do you really thing they dont produce WII titels because they dont like the Wii ? Thats just BS no matter WHO said that. I think there are 2 possible reasons why a company dont produces Titels for the Wii. First is they eventually misinterpreted the market. They think you cant earn money with the same concepts you can earn money on PS3/360. So they tried a couple of innovative Titels and failed. Probably they think that the WII owners dont want to play PS2 and Xbox games with a Waggle function. But thats all they can deliever on the WII. Innovative Concepts are always a risk.

The Cpu power is not just necessary for the Graphics but also for the KI and the Physics. And ofcourse the number of moving things on the screen. And probably they think they cant compete with the Nintendo titels so why should they try it because most of the people are buying just a small amount of games.

And probably because the PS3/Xbox360 prooved to move a giant amount of 3rd party software. So they are naturally focusing on the HD Consoles. They think they can earn more money with the HD Consoles. If they would figure out a way to earn more money on the WII then they would just develop Wii titels. But as you can see the HD Consoles are more profitable for them.

And can you please list the 3rd party developers which are posting losses ? SE is just about to release their games and EA has troubles al the time. I probably have a deficit of information.

But anyway your answer had nothing to do with my post. So I guess it wasnt a argument but more of a question so I tried to answer it. But I cant say you why they are posting losses because I dont have Internal Informations about the Companys which posted the losses. I can just try to explain why I think that the 3rd party developers have their focus on HD Consoles. And the answer is: Because they think they can earn more money with the HD Consoles then with the Wii.

Does a game really need a big budget to be good? Not sure.

Well I can tell you why I don't like the Wii.
It's because I think the games library is horrible by console standards. That has nothing to do with SD graphics and not so much with controls, but the support from 3rd parties is simply bad and Nintendo is doing their worst job at making great games this gen IMO. It started on the Gamecube and continued until today.

The reasons why I don't respect the Wii:
- Wii Fit, Wii Music etc.
- some shovelware titles sell extremely well, while the majority does not care about many good games.
-> developers are getting lazy and thus make mediocre games to make quick cash.

They're trying not to do what they did to the GC; making TOO many first and second party titles. Developers were so scared to bring anything great to the cube, thinking they could easily get overshadowed by the success of nintendos. Now people are saying thay want more quality titles from them which in my opinion is contradicting what they were saying 5 years ago.

When you get contradictory reasons, then those are just excuses.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Well IMO Nintendo games on the Gamecube already had lower quality standards than on the SNES or the N64.

Dunno what people said about the Gamecube back then, but this is my point of view and this is not an excuse at all.

I meant what the developers said, not you. They gave different reasons for not supporting the N64, GC, or Wii. Each time the complaints of the last one are solved new reasons crop up.

That is why they are excuses.

Wii is disruption.

Industries hate disruption.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Because all third party developers are part of an evil plan to kill the Wii ( that's what most Wii fanboys on this site will have you think at least..)
PS : I woudn't be surprised if the same people believed that Elvis was still alive...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I think it's more about how Nintendo doesn't feed the media, so the media doesn't feed Nintendo. Note that the DS really doesn't get that much respect from such sites either. They're the kind of places that complain when a good game goes to DS, because the potential for a PS360 epic has been wasted.

But it's more an issue that Nintendo is doing fine without the media, and the media is doing fine without Nintendo, so the two sides just avoid each other more.
