sorry...let me reword, I notice that alot of Wii fans reject the idea of a more streamlined online system, which genuinely shocks me. My question is why? you dont want to play with fellow VGC members online? you dont want a voice chat headset( not a monitering system) you dont wat to open atext or voice chat room get a bunch of friends in there and just talk games or things? why are these ideas such a sin with you guys? |
Personally, I'm not satisfied with any of the online offerings on any of the systems. To be honest, my ideal online system is what they had with the original Xbox.
It used to be that you popped a game into your system, played it for a while, and then when you took it out it was like it was never there. On PS3 and 360, that game is forever stuck on my record, whether I want it there or not (unless I got zero achievement points in it, in which case I can delete it). Not only is it there permanently, but anyone can check out what I did in that game, and even though I'm not a competitive person, it makes me feel pressured. I also don't like the fact that anyone can look at my profile and see what I'm dong at any point in time if I'm using the system's online features.
With the Wii, it's the opposite problem. I don't like Friend Codes, and Nintendo makes you jump through hoops to ge a good game going. It also makes it very difficult to play with the same person over multiple games.
With the original Xbox, you didn't have any of these problems. You connected to Xbox Live when you wanted to, but it didn't feel 'mandatory' and you didn't have games that were stuck on your 'permanent record'. By th esame token, it easily allowed you to connect with friends and people you meet online.
In short: I heat original Xbox multiplayer.
