@Netyaroze: despite the low share for a market leader, Wii has the highest sales ever for a leader in its first 3 years. Even staying under its best sales YoY, it will beat PSOne easily and PS2 with a little more effort, but not so difficult anyway, during its lifespan. Wii games offer is again getting more complete and atttractive at a good pace, this, added to the new lower price, will work quite well against further sales drops for a while, >80million by 2010 end is a reasonable minimum goal.

Maybe you dont understad.  I WOW the Wii sales cause even YOY its still outselling the HD systems with none of the BIG AAA Exclusives.  And this Gen for some reason it turned 2 HD vs. 1 Wii.  Wii still wins (outsales) = WOW!!!

Not sure if it's going to be a factor or was just specific to my Best Buy but I noticed something that bugged me yesterday when I purchased my SLIM PS3 ( YLOD on old PS3 /cry).
They had huge piles of Wii and 360 but the PS3 Pyramid they had back when the SLIM was released was gone and they only had 6-7 PS3 on display.

Hopefully they were just waiting for a shipment because I would hate to see them run out of PS3 ( when you think of it Sony started production of the SLIM last summer and it has been selling pretty well since its release).

Really pleased to see PS3 pull away from the 360 despite gift card/MW bundle combo!

Stab in the dark IMO, because of the increase of the deals for the 360, I expect the 360 to reduce to around 260k next week whereas I expect the PS3 to increase to around 390k.

In short I expect there to be anywhere from 100k-130k of a difference worldwide.

Using the PS2 as the yardstick, it still went up 11% with nothing really going on. Xbox 360 went up 12% with the xbox live bans and MW2 so really the Walmart promotion figures in from previous week as in the OP. PS3 went up to 15% so something is taking hold, either MW2 or Bluray adoption. Wii is up even higher which I can't really explain. I thought they'd hit market saturation sooner rather than later. PSP (shakes head in disgusts)

I demand a one week ban for everyone saying it was $99. You had to pay $199 (!!!) and got a $100 giftcard. You can basically say it was bundled with two games. When the PS3 was $399 it was bundled with Resistance 2 and Fifa 09 (the latest at that time) in some shops. So nobody said it was already $279 back then.

You had to use that $100 on XBox related items? I ask this because I am sure many, if not everyone in this thread could easily find something else to spend the $100 on. Like food, christmas shopping, toilet paper, candles, etc...

So while it wasn't exactly a $99 XBox360 and/or pricecut, for someone like me it would be a $99 360 because I have plenty of things I would have spent the extra $100 on, like clothing, food, etc... for my daughter. So in the end, yes, for me it would have been a $99 360 Arcade.

Am I wrong?

next week 360 sales should remain flat as:

A. Walmart Deal is over in USA + bundles for MW2 are

B. bundles are over in Europe too

On the other hand PS3 won't be flat but will RISE again 15 - 20%

Expect a  HUGe gap again next week

PS3 -- JUST AMAZING sales for this beast, JUST AMAZING......I'm shocked it outsold 360 this week

360 -- Ok sales.....it only 4% down YOY but thats taking into account the walmart deal & MW2 bundles....so is it really that great, not it isn't, on the other hand sales are WAY above PS3's dismal 2008 holiday....hence "ok" sales

PSP -- Bad.....saw the LOWEST increase week over week & is down over 20% YOY......nuff said

DS -- Decent........well they are GODLY....but being down over 30% YOY isn't "amazing", the DS LL launch WILL propel it higher though

Wii -- GOOD Sales.....still down YOY.....maybe NSMB Wii next week will change this
