Forums - Sony - I'm writting a letter to SONY!!!!!!!

cry some more.

out of warranty, then you pay fact of life.

Samsung would not fix my tv, i had it for 18 months. Had to pay myself to fix it, so grow up.

Just cause they make a video game console does not mean they have to fix it for free to stop you from crying. You are shit out of luck.

wow...just wow. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. I really don't think the OP is interested in people quoting console failure rates (especially not ones that were pulled out of somebody's fat ass), or the propaganda that some shitheads have to spew at every chance they get. Utterly pathetic.

@ OP, please rewrite that, be a little less emotional about it, and more professional, that will turn a head or two, then, when you don't get a reply, do as Twesterm suggested and send a copy of your original letter with a letter asking for the courtesy of a reply.
Meanwhile, call up customer service, and ask to speak to a manager, then explain your situation, if they cannot help you, demand to talk to their supervisor.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

If everything that ever broke got replaced for free, then there would be no companies, and well.. pretty much no anything.

Sony replaced my 60GB PS3 for free outside of warranty, why should you be different? I feel they do have some obligation to early PS3 purchasers who paid a higher price for a less reliable system. They should want to send a message that you can purchase a PS3 system day one and have them still support you for it.

The 60GB PS3 uses something in the order of 200W and has a fragile Blu Ray Drive. It makes sense that a significant number of early adopters will suffer hardware failiure, especially if they use it a lot. I feel they should do the right thing here and repair it.

Go for it dude!

Tease.

lesson to be learned here...don't be an early adopter...for anything...

Well unless you're buying a GPU because they release a new one every year.

You should have purchased an extended warranty. Probably the extended warranty would have cost 50-80$

Sony was really helpful to me. They sent me a pre-paid box and I got my PS3 back in 5 days, and they didnt even wipe the memory which is awesome. I basically had to do nothing. There was no hassel at all.

I had a sony HDTV go kapoooey (parts inside it were recalled) and Sony wouldn't do much for me. I ended up sending a registered letter to bestbuy in care of the Vice President (of bestbuy). And they replaced my tv for free VP's can get shit done and quickly. The VP phoned me the next day after receiving the letter personally. (My situation was a little different than yours. I had problems out of my tv from day one and bestbuy had done like 10 service calls to my house within the first year of owning the tv. It was just a lemon strait out. I got the money I payed for it back and bought a JVC 57 inch 1080p HDTV which has been much better so far.)

Here is what you should do, entirely reword your letter. Send it to the person thats in charge of your region and register it so that someone has to sign for it ( I don't know what it would be called where you live but here its just called registered mail). Tell them that you pretty much have an entire home full of Sony products make up some dollar amount you spent on the stuff like "$4000 or something". And that the reason you buy sony and give a premium for their products is due to its reliability. Tell them about your problem and ask to get it replaced for free.

Let them know how unsatisfied you are and that this may cause you to rethink purchasing more Sony products in the future, not just the playstation brand. Ask him directly if there is anything that he can do to make your situation right. And that you would appreciate any help he can give you.

Its always worth a shot, these things cost so much money now days that they should be required to work for atleast 5 years in order to get your moneys worth.

I've been lucky with video game products, only had one console die on me (PS1, 3 months after I got it) I guess because all my other consoles have been Nintendo.
