I had a sony HDTV go kapoooey (parts inside it were recalled) and Sony wouldn't do much for me. I ended up sending a registered letter to bestbuy in care of the Vice President (of bestbuy). And they replaced my tv for free VP's can get shit done and quickly. The VP phoned me the next day after receiving the letter personally. (My situation was a little different than yours. I had problems out of my tv from day one and bestbuy had done like 10 service calls to my house within the first year of owning the tv. It was just a lemon strait out. I got the money I payed for it back and bought a JVC 57 inch 1080p HDTV which has been much better so far.)

Here is what you should do, entirely reword your letter. Send it to the person thats in charge of your region and register it so that someone has to sign for it ( I don't know what it would be called where you live but here its just called registered mail). Tell them that you pretty much have an entire home full of Sony products make up some dollar amount you spent on the stuff like "$4000 or something". And that the reason you buy sony and give a premium for their products is due to its reliability. Tell them about your problem and ask to get it replaced for free.

Let them know how unsatisfied you are and that this may cause you to rethink purchasing more Sony products in the future, not just the playstation brand. Ask him directly if there is anything that he can do to make your situation right. And that you would appreciate any help he can give you.

Its always worth a shot, these things cost so much money now days that they should be required to work for atleast 5 years in order to get your moneys worth.
