@SamuelIRSmith
no I don't like FPS's thats why
no matter how good it is, its not my type of game so I won't be getting it, games are expensive (very very expensive).

So, you refuse to buy a game no matter how good it is.... You realise how ridiculous that sounds? |
It's not ridiculous at all. If it doesn't fit one's tastes, it doesn't matter how good other people think it is. I think what you're saying is way more ridiculous.
I do have to say this is only just behind Uncharted 2 in terms of SP. It was far more exciting, but many more frustrating moments, I don't think anything has quite had me on the edge of my seat as much as this game did
It really is a must have, and will sell bucket and bucket loads, and it really does deserve to

Sorry, there, bud, I thought he was making some kind of "moral" stance, I didn't realise that it was because he wasn't into first person shooters.
Christ.
Wowzas, that's quite a lot. So, we're looking at, at least 10 million shipped day one?

10 million would actually seem pretty low if this UK number is to be believed. CoD4 sold 2 million in the UK (being really generous), yet is shipping 50% more day 1. That would be 18.9 million worldwide. DS and PC might change the numbers a bit, but not by a whole lot.
Retailers apparently have a lot of faith in MW2, although I hear you can already get it for pretty cheap in the UK.
lol would be interesting to see what the platform split for that 3m is
btw - what is it that makes this game so special?
Is it just the hype? Gameplay? what?
not trollin', just interested having never played any MW games before
to clarify for those with tender sensibilities: What puts the cream on the cake that sets it apart from other shooters that makes them ship 3mil to UK alone?

I think the single player is anywhere from average to poor imo, at least COD4 was.
It's relentlessly linear, scripted, and cliched. As well as short.
Now, I'm not that into multiplayer, the multiplayer is probably very good.
There is a HUGE difference between a game like Halo 3, which often allows massive scale and free roaming on the battlefield, and an incredibly linear game like COD 4. However, sadly the populace judging by sales figures seems to prefer the latter.
Honestly, I think that COD4 became so vastly popular mostly because of it's graphics, which were very good at the time, and modern military theme, plus of course the multiplayer which people loved. It just snowballed from there despite that the campaign is not very good imo. Even reviews such as IGN have now caught on to the fact the campaign is subpar.
That'll likely be the one and only shipment there.
