Forums - Gaming - Remind me again why Modern Warfare 2 is supposed to be a day one purchase?

lol have you even seen videos for MW2. They built it from the ground up, it is not a few adjustments to CoD4, it is completely different.

No it isn't.

Campaign is exactly the same format, grpahics and mission styles as COD4.

MP also uses MW1 as a base and adds a lot of tweaks.

I definitly don't consider it a day 1 purchase...but then again I don't tend to buy games on day one, usually wait a couple of months for the price to go down, but there are 2 exceptions to this, the only 2 games I have ever bought day 1 at full price have been Killzone and uncharted 2, hell Uncharted 2 was even pre-ordered, something I have never done before but hey there will always be a first XD

I was disappointed with MW1, there are fps games that appeal more to me. Also Activision with their new money milking strategy and screwing with PC gamers (fps on gaypad? no thanks :). Even though Infinity Ward may be great developer, I'm not going to buy that game at all.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

I won't get any game that costs more than the average game and is so incredibly short.

Seriously, what happened to game lenght this gen? I only buy a few high quality games, and I expect them to last long. Buying what seems like a pretty standard shooter and finishing it in under 10 hours is unthinkable for a game that is more expensive than the average game. Halo 3 with it's shortness made me feel burned, and the only thing keeping me from selling it was FORGE, Forge and playing custom game modes with friends is what saved the game for me, it made it worth the purchase. MW2 just won't have enough content in it for me to be interrested, it will probably have some epic moments and a decent multiplayer, but due to the low player count the multiplayer is likely to become repetitive, and a short single player (even if it's epic) will just make it a shallow experience.

I'm waiting for Battlefield 3 instead.

Halo 3 had co-op which at least doubles the replayability and CoDMW2 features a special ops mode which also extends the game (singleplayer and multiplayer wise)

I take co-op for granted in every console FPS I play, not having co-op in is a crime to me, and I don't buy FPS games without co-op, I played the entire Halo 3 campaign in local co-op, and still found it too short.

What is this, special ops mode that you speak of? If it gets repetitive quick, It's more like a cool extra and not a game extension.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I think the special ops missions sound interesting.

MW 1 graphics good you sir need your eyes checked. it was like PSone textures in some area's like the sneaking hay field
and the faces had less polygons then some PS2 games.

this is so lol when MW first released people were all like omg awesome graphics no wonder it couldn't be on wii and they wwere criticsing wii and saying it was absoloutely amazing..now that mw2 is here people r like the graphics sucked and mw2 has the best graphics ever then when mw3 (possibly) is released people will be like mw2 was a awesome game but the grpahics were just not right...ool i mean lol

Maybe you should change your point of view here.

Special Ops mode:

"Modern Warfare 2 will feature a cooperative mode entitled Special Ops, which consists of independent missions similar in design to the "Mile High Club" epilogue mission from Call of Duty 4. These missions will take place in a variety of locations from the campaign mode, but aren't related to story of the campaign itself. Special Ops supports cooperative play for up to two players, and can be played alone, in split-screen locally with another player, or online with another player. It includes such scenarios as a snowmobile race, a battle alongside U.S. Navy SEALs, and fending off a wave of 50 enemies at once.

Special Ops is divided into separate groups of missions with changeable difficulty levels. Successfully completing a mission earns the player stars, with missions completed on Veteran difficulty rewarding up to three stars. These stars can be used to unlock more missions in the mode."

1. Better 4-6 hours of epic single player than 10 hours of rubbish
2. Auto aim can be turned off. .
3. Majority of Purchases are buying for Multiplayer ( Wherein lies the VAST Replay Value ).
