Forums - Gaming - Demon Souls vs Batman:AA....which will win surprise of the year?

Not played Demon Souls, but Batman is some big competition.

I always thought Batman: AA was going to be decent. Demons Souls didn't look impressive at all back at TGS 2008, I remember most people saying it would suck.

This is a pretty hard question. On one hand Batman is based off a comic book, so I didn't expect it to be that good.

On the other hand though Demon's Souls released in Japan last year with less then stellar reviews. So again I didn't expect it to be that good

But I really expected Batman to suck.
So I vote BAtman

Batman actualy had hype as in Ads. DS flourished on word of mouth alone.

I vote Demon's Souls. I swear, this game is THE definition of sleeper hit. I think almost everyone who paid attention to the reviews and game trailers of Batman: AA knew it would be a decent game. My vote goes to Demon's Souls.

demons souls

I would say Demon's Souls. Most people expected Arkham Asylum to be reasonably good, and one of the better film franchise games of this generation. Demon's Souls, on the other hand...everyone (except MM476) expected it to suck. Largely due to that leaked video with the strange animations and crappy framerate. Reviewers said it was a buggy mess at TGS 08. White Knight Chronicles got all the attention, and it ended up being an average game.

The J man will tell you when ads and word of mouth affect review scores.....never.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

Well I've played through batman already(enough with the vents!) I didn't think it really defined itself from being any more than a very polished average game. I guess if you were a superhero/batman fan you might enjoy it a bit more than i did.

Haven't played demon's souls yet but it comes in tomorrow we'll see - I'm hoping it shows that it really defines itself as something else.

I knew batman would be quality, they raved about it well before release, demon's souls on the other hand was a shocker. Everyone dumped on the game early in the year, assumed from software couldn't do anything, had no idea if it would ever come to the US. Then the reviews started pouring in and they were far better than what everyone expected.

erghhhhhhhhh

Batmans Souls!
