Forums - Nintendo - GoldenEye 2010" outed for Wii?

Well this is a silly rumor and really not much to back it up.

Really it's just like the old rumors before where it was just exploded into something it wasn't. What it comes down to is it is up to who still holds the rights to it. Considering that is Activision and possibly Nintendo it'll be up to them. Really I don't understand why people keep involving Rare into the mix considering the no longer have the licensing to the franchise nor would they have publishing rights to Goldeneye. They are essentially out of the picture.

I'm sure Activision would love to make another Goldeneye game to build upon that and possibly release the original on multiple platforms but that is something they are going to have to talk about within current licensing and potentially Nintendo depending on how much they still held onto with the original release.

I wonder if all of this is part of a plan to get the original game up on XBLA.

Remember, the original plan was for the WW and XBLA to get the original but XBLA to also get an enhanced version. Nintendo would not sign off on such. But if you give the Wii a new game based upon the license, it might go for it.

That was Just a rumor. Nintendo nor Rare owns the rights to GoldenEye. Therefore if the game was going to be ported to the XBLA there is nothing Nintendo could do about it.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Well we know without a doubt that Rare has no rights or licensing to the project.  They lost licensing and of course didn't publish the game.  But Nintendo is a trickier one considering they did publish Goldeney 007.  For that individual game they could still hold some sort of rights or licensing.  Now I'm not saying they do have that but they might.  More than likely they don't but it is still possible.  But Rare/MS are completely out of the picture.

I'd stil say mostof it is with Activision and simply deciding what to do with it.

Did none of you see the screens of the Goldeneye XBLA remake? They canned it to do Perfect Dark instead...

Nintendo owns the rights to some aspect of the game, like the code or something like that.  Basically everyone's in a gridlock.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

As near as I can tell, Nintendo and Rare (as Nintendo second-party) co-developed the N64 classic and shared some rights to it. But without the Activision-owned Bond license, neither can take any action -- independently or combined.

Also, Activision has publically blamed Nintendo for the deadlock.

Characters reacted to shots in body parts like no other game tried to do (and i really dont know why)

A goldeneye grunt shot in the hand would take its time to feel some pain

Nowdays, you can shot a grunt in Modern Warfare 35 million times and he will be standing still shooting at you like f**** robocop

Yeah, I was wondering about that a few days ago, I shot this guy with a shotgun from something like a meter away and he just kept shooting like nothing happened until the second shot killed him, it just felt wrong.

Alright I remember playing GoldenEye 007 growing up on my Nintendo64. I liked the gameplay it was a great shooter and yes for its time the reactions of those being shot still have not been emulated today. But where Bond really accelerated was the multiplayer, about 90% of me playing Bond was playing against friends , not the single player at all!

So for Bond to be a success in my eyes it will need to have a really strong multiplayer capability. I bought the Conduit earlier this year and I have to say for me to give Bond the time of day, they need to match or beat the Conduits online multiplayer. To be honest I don't even think Nintendo has a sufficient online network to make a Bond that will blow us away online the way Bond64 blew us away in our houses.

What do I need for this bond to be as good as the last bond.

-NPC physics (I need NPC's to react to the different places they are shot. For example in GoldenEye64 you shot a guy in the throat and he choked to death).

-Online chat (WiiSpeak will be okay, but I'd really prefer having a headset)

-No friend codes required to play online with chat!

-Nintendo's direct involvement in the development of the titles multiplayer gameplay. To ensure that it maxes out the Wii's potential

-Nintendo's direct involvement in the games design

- Cheap characters like OddJob need to make a comeback for less skilled players to use online

- A vigerous and great online experiance superior to even its single player campain

If Activision can do those things then I think the next GoldenEye will be worthy of the title. If Activision fails on any of the above the title just won't be the AAA+ quality we remember when we picked up GoldenEye64! It won't live up to the name!
