BIT.TRIP Beat for 1-4 player co-op action for only $6. Anybody can play it, and it's really fun and really addictive.
Wii Sports Resort for several really good multiplayer games, with achievements, and the best motion controls on the market.
Dr. Mario for the 1-4 player co-op mode for $10.
Metal Slug Anthology for 7 Metal Slug games, all with 2-player co-op.
Elebits is super cute, super girl-friendly, and a really amazing unique FPS game with great controls, 1-4 player multiplayer, and a level editor.
Wario Ware is built from the ground up for wacky parties with tons of girls. It's more fun to watch than to actually play, so passing the remote around with a big group of people is great.
Cooking Mama is the girl version of Wario Ware. Not as wacky/ridiculous, but still fun.
Boom Blox is really cute, really easy to play, and good for parties. Has several modes. Not as hectic as something like Mario Kart, Brawl, or Wario Ware, but still good for groups.
Wii Play for a $10 controller (which you need for the rest of these multiplayer games), and some fun multiplayer minigames that teach noobs how to use IR pointing, tilting, and gestures. Has a 2 player Duck Hunt game. Also, the tank game is incredible.

And the greatest co-op game of the year is just around the corner, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I played it. It's heaven. That's the game you want.

And remember, it can play GameCube games, so you can pick up the Zelda Collector's Edition disc for Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask all on one disc. Throw in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and download Link to the Past on the Virtual Console, and the Wii has every non-handheld non-CD-i Zelda game.
