Forums - Gaming - Anybody else find online multiplayer more frustrating than fun?

No, because it is fun to run around with my comrades destroying things.

I disagree.

You just have to have some patience and persistense to learn the game and get good enuff and then you'll enjoy it very much.

But I agree that online gaming in general has more moments of frustration than single player, because we're dealing with other humans. But overall the fun outweights the frustrations.

It can be annoying, yes. Take Uncharted 2 for example, it's relatively new. It's been out in America for 9 days, and in Europe for 7 days. Now, some people rushed through the campaign, I wanted to take my time with it. I got the game on Thursday and was finished by Sunday. Three days later.

I decided to try playing online.

HOW THE HELL DOES SOMEBODY HIT LEVEL 36 IN A WEEK? It was just ridiculous. I kept being put in matches with people 20 levels above me, and people on my side left because two of their players combined had a higher level than all five of us combined, and so there were two of us left, against 5 level 25-35s. Not fun.

The only game in which I've preferred multiplayer to single player is Call of Duty 4, and I maintain that it has the best online of any console shooter to date.

I know exactly what you mean, there are way more frustrating matches than good ones. Unless of course you practice for ungodly amounts of time so you can beat people in a video game.

I rarely play multiplaer because I don't find it all that fun in general. Some times frustration is a part of that, but I've never been much of competitor in online games. But I think Uncharted 2 competetive is quite fun. Sometimes I suck, and sometimes I play well. I just take the sweet with the sour and enjoy.

But sometimes you just get into a great match where everyone plays well. I played a Plunder match once where the timer ran out and the match ended 4-4, and I lost a deathmatch once by 48-50. Those matches are really, really awesome.

Oh, and I usually mute everyone because I don't want to listen to what noise people are making.

I loved online in the CS time. Kinda stopped for a while then back with CS:Source. But yeah it gets old after a while to get headshot from 50 meters every 5 seconds. Still I don't mind going online from time to time.

What I hate however is the 1 hit melee kill.... played a bit of halo multiplayer... didn't quite understand what was happening... I mean sure if you have a sword that cuts a scify armor... but the butt of a gun that destroys an armor capable of getting through 500 bullets without flinching.... yeah....
Gears is better for this, but I still hate the close range shotgun kills... I never managed to get a 1 hit kill.

Good multiplayer for all of you is stuff like L4D or Horde mode in gears2... that is if the team stays for more than 10 rounds...

I normally don't get frustrated when I lose. Though it can be annoying when you're slowly crawling up levels because you find it difficult to beat higher level opponents as you move up. That's achievements for you. lol. For me, when I lose, I just think, "aww dammit I'm never gonna get that level X achievement at this rate! lol", not "oh no I'm a failure." I don't have a fragile ego, I can easily accept that there are plenty of people online who are just that much better at the game than you and that's fine.
