Forums - Sony - I FINALLY got Uncharted : Drakes Fortune! (2 years later!)

Right, I 'm at the bit where I RECOVERED my map from the plane that was shot from the sky.......rofl the map was just lying there on the control bit of the plane, how fake!
__________

Impressions so far:

Graphics -- AMAZING, in the bit above the WW2 sub, on the waterfall, I just turned the camera & looked at the horizon.....it looked so amazing! Called my mum n showed it to her too......she thought it was a movie!

Uncharted 2 looks better. MUCH better.

Technical -- hmm....definite framerate drops, already got a glitch (fell into the "mountain")

No framerate drops in the sequel, a few misplaced jump animations, and I once fell through the earth. It also crashed once, near the end of the game.

Controls -- Ok....after playing the Uncharted 2 beta, the controls seem inferior....my god Naughty Dog have improved on them. The grenade controls are a pain, so much better in the Uncharted 2 Beta!

Agreed

Gameplay -- AMAZING......shooting stuff to make pillars fall, puzzles a dog can solve, jumping, running!

Way fewer puzzles in Uncharted 2, but that's good. The puzzles that are there are much simpler.

Ofcourse the bit that impressed me a lot was where the camera comes to the front & you need to run while these wooden platforms fall (thats in the first temple you go to).....AMAZING....reminded me of Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped & the bits where he had to run away from the falling boulder!

Good times

Story -- This is where it really shines. The characters are so real.....DRake is the height of cool, Sully is good (I doubt he's dead) & Elena is very funny

Better in the sequel

For example.....the scene where they ditch her was very well done. You got to see Drake & SUlly talking then the bit where elena's speaking to her producer while sully n drake wave at her & then when she says "no I don't trust them either"....HILARIOUS!

Nothing compared to Uncharted 2's final cutscene- hysterical.

The music is very nice

Oh please, there's one song and a few 10 second clips. Uncharted 2 is much better in this regard.

Gave me the feeling of an "adventure" like no game other than the PS1 tomb raiders gave me.

Remember when Tomb Raider was good?

Basically I felt it was a mistake to not buy it 2 years ago at full price UNTIL I saw that I had already finished 29% of the game.

Damn straight

Will continue it tomorrow!

So far 8.9/10!

Not even a 9? Sony hater!

So to summarise, the sequel is better in every way.

I disagree that the second has fewer puzzles. There are fewer puzzles in ratio to the rest of the gameplay, but since the game is twice as long it ends up being the same amount. They are very easy however, but to make up for that for those who like to think instead of just shoot, Uncharted 2's gunfights are much more strategic (with stealth, pathing, and platforming options available). There's also much more platforming in general, both during gunfights and during the rest of the game.

And to keep more people from hating me, I really do like Uncharted. It's a very good game. Just not a must buy game, and not something you have to own a PS3 for. Uncharted 2 is. Uncharted is not.

Again my opinion above. I am in love with Uncharted 2. Already almost beat it a second time, and the online is a blast. Haven't played co-op yet though.

On a 1-10 scale, what would you give both Uncharted games?

WOW I will love Uncharted 2 then

There is a reason everyone likes it more than Uncharted 1

I don't think anyone really hates you for not liking Uncharted as much as the second one. Not many people do. But I love the whole sneaking in the second game. Helps avoid some big fights which is kind of cool.

The second had all of three puzzles, and they all involved looking in the diary and pulling a lever of some sort, except the final one. The puzzles in Uncharted 2 were pathetic, in my opinion, but then puzzles weren't really a strong point in the original, either.

Honestly speaking I didn't really like the first Uncharted, didn't feel it was that epic compared to whatever everyone said it was. Given sony fans do try to make everything seem more epic. Personally the puzzles and platforming gameplay of the first ruined the overall game for me.

The second oh my god, is it awesome. I am finally starting to see why this one has such high reviews. This game right now is my fourth favorite game this generation and that is amazing since action-adventure with shooting elements are never on my list.

Also PS3 fans you gonna kill me? I don't own the first one! I borrowed it from a friend! :P

Uncharted 1 was a decent game, pretty average tbh, but 2 is one of the most awesome games I've played lol.

I also played Uncharted 1 2 years after it's release and I regretted not buying a PS3 for it. Some in game glitches like naznatips mentionned but nothing that breaks the fun of the game.
